Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying ReFUK is dead. Vast swathes of the media are still fixated on boosting the shysters. But it won't be enough. ReFUK will be trying to defend lamentable records on local councils whilst trying to convince us they can do better in Government.
comment in response to post
And turnout is *much* higher at a GE. Those extra voters will not be voting ReFUK.
comment in response to post
What you're missing is that they filter down *locally*. And catastrophic ReFUK failure in places like Staffordshire will inevitably impact their chances at the next GE. They're going to spend the next few years pissing off the electorate in the very places they need to win.

Zia Yusuf's resignation won't hit home, but don't underestimate the inevitable coming shitshow in ReFUK councils. I say this as someone who knocked hundreds of doors in Staffordshire in the run-up to the local elections.

It's long overdue. Had Blair followed through on his promise nearly 3 decades ago, we'd be in a far better place now. After nearly 15 years in the wilderness, Labour have a huge Parliamentary majority again. They can't afford to make the same mistake again.

Are you sure about that? Because your responses on here seem to echo the simplistic lies pushed by the snake-oil salesmen.
comment in response to post
You're angry at the wrong people. You should be angry at the snake-oil salesmen who've overseen a massive transfer of wealth to people who already have more than they could spend over 1,000 lifetimes. You seem to be listening to them instead.

You do like to eat, don't you? You like the idea of a functioning infrastructure? You want your goods to be delivered? Are you going to work 3 full-time jobs to ensure this happens? Or do you want everyone else to do it for you?
comment in response to post
No, but your objectives need to be coherent. Otherwise you'll end up voting for a compulsive liar selling you a simple "solution" to complex problems. And we all know how that works out, don't we?
comment in response to post
It hasn't. There are so many exemptions.
comment in response to post
You really haven't thought this through, have you?
comment in response to post
???
comment in response to post
So they have to pay twice? Yeah, that'll work... 🙄
comment in response to post
...which will have negative consequences throughout society. Those young Brits you want to work in healthcare will also need to pick our crops, work in our factories, build our houses & maintain our infrastructure. How are you going to conjure up that workforce?
comment in response to post
1. You're far more likely to be treated by an immigrant than behind one in the queue 2. If you're going to force people who already work & pax tax to pay again for their healthcare, they'll move somewhere they'll be appreciated...
comment in response to post
So our NHS has increased demand from our ageing population, and a lack of youngsters to meet that demand.
comment in response to post
No. It doesn't matter how many places you open up. We have an ageing population, and most of the youngsters coming through school now don't want to work in healthcare (or aren't capable of it).
comment in response to post
You do realise if all NHS staff were "domestically trained", as you put it, waiting lists would be far longer than they are now? There simply aren't enough young Brits to fill the vacancies (and that's before we look at how many would want to).
comment in response to post
It's a political argument over here, too. A losing one. And forcing people to stay & work in piss-poor conditions really is tantamount to modern slavery. If you improve pay & conditions, they'll choose to stay here.
comment in response to post
I'm talking about the thousands of British doctors & nurses who train here then go abroad. Here's a better idea: Why don't we improve their pay & conditions so they no longer feel the need to leave?
comment in response to post
Oh, so you want modern slavery in the NHS now?
comment in response to post
You really need to start joining the dots, rather than swallowing the shit from Farage & friends...
comment in response to post
You mean like all the doctors we train who promptly fuck off to Australia & elsewhere, where pay & conditions are so much better?
comment in response to post
Yes. There. Is. Governments choose not to use it.
comment in response to post
Yes, like allowing the filthy rich to hoard their wealth & avoid paying their fair share... ...although I suspect you're thinking of whatever the usual suspects are currently railing against...
comment in response to post
And by the way, why did you want to deny healthcare to people living here?
comment in response to post
What, like the families of the people actually delivering care?
comment in response to post
There's enough money to deliver the highest possible standard of health care (and much more besides). It's a political choice not to fund the NHS. It's not due to a lack of available money.
comment in response to post
As I said, there's more than enough money for healthcare *and* foreign aid. And infrastructure, transport, education, etc etc etc...
comment in response to post
A lot of people in politics know they have blood on their hands, and they don't care. And around 40-45% of the electorate would happily vote for them if polling is to be believed...
comment in response to post
You've been sold a lie. There's more than enough money to fund both. And in both cases, the funding will more than pay for itself.
comment in response to post
It's not either/or. We can, and should, have both. (And yes, I've lost family members due to a badly underfunded NHS). Oh, and by the way: Those who are most keen on cutting international aid are the same people who would dismantle our own healthcare.

I was at that game. I think it was the week before the FA Cup semi-final, and we were in party mood. We all got soaked because there was no roof on the away end back then.
comment in response to post
Labour is acting as though they *want* Farage to be our next PM. They won't get my vote in this (currently red-blue) marginal at the next GE unless they grow a spine, and quickly.

That's fine for you, but millions of people still get most of their news from the broadcast media.

So you want him to be completely ignored by the media (which is what happens when he's serious)? Ed's not the problem. Our media is.
comment in response to post
Why do you think he recommends that you make sure you have a passport?
comment in response to post
That sounds like Iain Duncan-Smith, circa 2011. I agree that the devil is in the details, but the impact assessments don't provide much in the way of reassurance.

I can't find "Cuntpisswater" on the Tube map...

I still remember a holiday in Devon as a child. It was pouring with rain and I wanted to go to the pool, and my mum said "you'll get soaked!".

That's *extremely* polite compared to my thoughts on the ket-addled fascist wankstain...

Great pub. Went to many Stoke Skeptcs in the Pub events there back in the day...

Tesla's market is evaporating around the globe. Trump's tariffs aren't going to change this; in fact they're making it worse. Tesla is toast.

Oh, and by the way: Russia deployed chemical weapons in the UK more than once.
