Just played my first football game in yrs, just 5aside kickabout with school parents. Sunny village evening complete w/ church belL soundtrack. Forgotten how much fun it is. Grown ups should do more kickabouts. Thinking I might take to cycling through the village knocking on my mates to come play.

The archaeological community has tried hard to become an inclusive and supportive place. This open letter to leaders in response to the Supreme Court ruling on gender from our sector is excellent, thank you to those involved. Please consider signing if you feel able docs.google.com/document/d/1...

On 14th May, not 13th!!

Students often talk with friends & fam about climate, @lizbarnes.bsky.social + colleagues find. But they tend to go heavy on the stats & facts, and don't know how to bring up solutions. They rarely learn how to have effective conversations, and would love training & practice. Well, guess what! 🧵

Every time our prize nature find is where the best archaeology is... Glass lizard at Roman (and pre Roman) site of Asseria en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asseria

Can anyone tell me anything about the archaeological work that's been going on at the Vrana Old Town in Croatia? Looks like it's gridded out for recording and excavation. Such a great place, I'd live to know more!

Love the sign at Vransko Jezero nature reserve, Vrna Lake, Croatia.

Today we’re exploring Scotney Castle in Kent, where it is known that a chapel once existed on the site, but only fragments remain. In the collections and built into a fireplace in the mansion, are several decorated tiles, likely from the medieval chapel. bit.ly/3DlzMF2 #TilesOnTuesday #MedievalMarch

The ancient, moated manor of Baddesley Clinton, the home of the Ferrers family for 500 years, dates from the 15th century. Today, you can see an example of medieval stewponds in the garden. They were connected by a system of wooden pipes to the moat. Find out more: bit.ly/4kfa8lM #MedievalMarch

Come work with me! Happy to have a chat with anyone who's interested in applying...

New research reveals the Flagstones site, half of which is underneath Max Gate, is the earliest known large circular enclosure in Britain! A team from the University of Exeter and Historic England used radiocarbon and archaeological dating to discover that it dates back to 3200 BC.

Summer ready! (Apologies to anyone in the south of England as this probably means rain and cloud from now on)
