I've yet to come across a convincing explanation for why period cramps seem to get worse with age. Any scientists wanna give it a go?

It would be nice if the city’s major newspaper hadn’t effectively collapsed thanks to its billionaire owner deciding he needed to suck Trump off for his pharma empire to prosper.

What I cannot work out is *why* Labour thinks saying "It was right to cut Winter Fuel Allowance last year and it's right to reinstate it this year because circumstances changed so much" Is better than "We listened to you, we got it wrong, we've fixed it, and we're sorry".

It's not the worst thing about the Trump era by far, but it is infuriating to have been consistently viewed as alarmist for stating plainly what has been happening in front of our very eyes. So many people have gaslit us because they were delusional or reality made them uncomfortable.

This this this. Despite the obvious benefits re improving access to housing, parental support, financial stability, childcare, free IVF, etc etc, none of it has budged the falling birth rates in multiple countries with totally different economic / social landscapes

Got read for filth by a fucking robot

Don't know how to explain this but I can only exist in a world where I pretend my cat will never die

“Health governance tools and resources and materials and trainings that were the gold standard for this type of work—they’re all gone. Just gone off the Earth. They took them away," says one former government employee.

Trump's "trade policy is not just ludicrous in substance but vulnerable to events, be they the courts or the financial markets, or in this case the two contriving to work in tandem" Great stuff by @alanbeattie.bsky.social on the US court tariffs bombshell www.ft.com/content/1dd8...

I swear London travel content is going to *radicalise* me. Neal's Yard a hidden gem? Covent Garden UNDERRATED

Omg Democrats are gonna keep losing forever

Anyone needing confirmation of Elon Musk's nasty and vindictive character amid Mishal Husain's saintlike patience with him should read this transcript. Musk is a global menace. www.bloomberg.com/features/202...

Very close to the £1,500 target now with just six days left to go, so final push for donations! www.justgiving.com/page/harriet...

Genuine question - should men have tampons / pads in their flats for when their female friends visit? I'm talking specifically single men, not ones whose partners have put that stuff there

As a native Londoner I am actually taking this very personally, restaurants need to *earn* their spot on those copy-and-pasted churn listicles not just coast on a groupthink of bullshit

On the urging of a hundred listicles about top London restaurants I finally went to Quo Vadis. My conclusion... are those writers having us on? An overpriced, underseasoned snoozefest, in dire need of a vibe! Bafflingly limited menu and the food was a cacophony of beige served on cold plates...

This deserves to be a much, much more widely known scandal. And those involved should fact prosecution for culpability in the deaths of people they wrongly refused – some allegedly corruptly, some through utter incompetence and negligence. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

This is going to radicalise me

CJR talked to a bunch of different journalists about their thoughts on ai and how they are (or aren’t) using it.

I really don't think you need legal experts to tell you that this raises both ethical and constitutional concerns - especially when legal experts are saying it's straight up impeachable

The U.K. isn't even an island, for a start

I would encounter quicksand many times in my life

BREAKING: “We will be closing the care worker visa for overseas recruitment” - Home Secretary Yvette Cooper Don’t we have a desperate shortage of care workers?

She was jailed for writing an opinion column

Genuine question - can the Pope excommunicate people still? Because if so he has the opportunity to do the funniest thing

"Woke Marxist Pope" is now etched indelibly on my brain, I hate this timeline but god it's never dull

Have been laughing for ten minutes

The reason there's no working class representation in publishing is because publishing and writing currently pay so badly only people who are already financially stable can afford to do it. The problem is always, always money.

I do not understand how people keep biscuits in their flats?? If there are biscuits in my flat I will be completely unable to stop myself eating all biscuits until there are no biscuits left in my flat and I can know peace

Persephone, I blame the Noughts and Crosses series
