I'm nobody, who are you?
Are you- Nobody too?
There's a pair of us - don't tell!
They'd banish us, you know.

Oh, that's a good idea, I'll try to remember next year.

Well... as an answer it just doesn't add up. While there were frequent shortages of various things, he called out onions in particular several times. The other explanation, that all the onions were being used for medical purposes, would make more sense.

Huh! See, that wasn't mentioned but the soldier wasn't in medical at all, but it would explain it.

Ai, I've tried planting garlic and onions both, but the chipmunks around here are... well, I'm Not Pleased.
I've managed tomatoes, peppers, and herbs.

Yeah, but they had trouble getting onions even when they had other stuff.

Every single time this comes up, I end up having an onion&cheese sandwich for lunch within the week.

You know something which baffles me? In the book _Hardtack and Coffee_, the author - an ACW veteran - on several occasions mentions how hard it was to get ahold of onions during the war. But onions are a staple of like, ALL THE COOKING and I wonder why they were so rare then.

I am always disappointed when I drive by Sumerduck in Virginia. It's nowhere near as interesting as it ought to be.

Even ignoring "reading for enjoyment", the AI route means either sending meaningless slop to someone else, or spending the same amount of time*reading* that slop as reading worthwhile sources... except without any confidence that what you're reading is correct.

Just like Columbia university and NYU, people were singing and sharing meals, and books. Then the cops, drones and police dogs showed up. No one was disruptive/violent except the so-called counter protesters, the national guard and the NYPD.

I've seen "police clash with protestors" many times.
The protestors are standing there waving signs and peacefully chanting, and the cops attack them mercilessly and without warning at a predetermined time and then trot out a pile of deadly empty water bottles to justify it afterwards.

Smart kitties are fun, but also a challenge.
It took Whiskey less than 48 hours to hack the automatic feeder. And then 12 hours to figure out the replacement. He hasn't figured out the current ones... yet. But he keeps trying.

We can dream.
But, alas, our androids do not dream of electric sheep, because we do not allow them to sleep.

In my company's GenAI training it warns about this - the AI will NEVER say "The thing you're looking for doesn't exist". It will make up references, create new procedures, anything you ask for. Which is bad when you're doing work, but worse when you're having a mental health crisis.
