traits / desires / bonds and story arcs.
you also define the player party before you start making characters.

in theory i have a new game starting this weekend and i am STILL torn between Daggerheart (cos pretty and shiny and right here and cards and tokens and i've already spent a shitload on accessories for it), Triangle Agency (for the tone etc) and Grimwild - because it *has* space on the sheet for

I liked Genesys initiative - everyone rolls an initiative score that's lined up on the tracker but you don't have to act on the score you rolled.
I also LOVE the Troika! Token initiative
Sentinel Comics and Phoenix Dawn Command both use hand-off initiative systems

Heart and Spire have similar, a teammate that is trained in the skill you're trying to use adds a die to your pool (but also shares in any fallout from the roll).
Wildsea does the same iirc, my book isn't with me.

Cypher System has 2- spend an XP to re roll a task but you can spend so another player can reroll. Also "I'm also trained in whatever you're trying to do, I'll help and you get an asset to the task"

Noumenon was nothing BUT teamwork as success was based on achieving a certain length of Domino chain

Modiphius 2d20 has the momentum pool of shared oomph that you can add to with good rolls / extra successes and other players can take from to add dice to their pools

Genesys / FFGSW / Wfrp3e has similar spend a boon to add an advantage dice to another heroes next pool.

Spectaculars has spend a Hero Point, describe the maneuver or how you're doing the assist and they get 2 advantage dice to their action. Also has spend a boon from your current roll to add 2 advantage dice to X heroes' next roll

As for mechanics - my game Stories Unlimited has a Bonds mechanic that the higher the bond die with another player the more likely you are to add to their stake in a dramatic moment.

And any game that starts with a good session zero "so what sort of story do we actually want to tell"

GrimWild. You define the party before you make characters.
Shattered City's covenant cores are keyword shared backstories generated between characters.
Any PbtA game that has bonds established between PCs prior to play

Oooo flip i hadn't thought about using the card box as a character keeper.
I sleeved my cards as soon as I got my set and ofc they don't then fit in the tray.
Just a shame I'm in the UK and therefore on A4 paper not US letter sized...

Not really, I think the work with generic stand up clips. They work with the ones from descent, wfrp 3e, and the Numenéra standups

Then again I have prepped tokens using coin holders and pennies after your solo dragon bane based pics..

They're really good, the card is thick (2.5 to 3mm I think.)
The pf2 core box is usually about 70 quid which is a sting but includes pretty much all the "standard" fantasy monsters.

I'm tempted too.
I have starfinder pawns, very tempted to get the pathfinder set for Fantasy games...

I'm back in plymouth now and my nearest shopping street has a Co-op, Mama Afrika, Romanian place, generic Indian and a Bengali place. oh and a pair of Chinese supermarkets just a little further.
But i do miss the Brummie Enthusiasm for multicultural eating.
