It was blisteringly dumb. Like, peel your skin right off dumb. John Stewart got famous playing government official interview clips and then staring at the camera speechless.

Dearest humanities friends, I’m sending up the humanities bat signal. Heard a NEH colleague that orgs aren’t submitting requests for close out costs on terminated awards—which they are entitled to!! Here’s what to do: 1/

This is simply correct.

This is the problem with the Democrats in a nutshell.

I expect he thought it would make him feel good. But in fact nothing can fill the void inside him.

Republicans: WE NOMINATE SKELETOR Democrats: We dislike Skeletor but we will vote to confirm him. Please give us between 5 and 50 dollars. <Later> Democrats: I stand before you to condemn the actions of Skeletor. He should have never been given this power. Please give me between 5 and 50 dollars.

Do not wait to get your kids the HPV vaccine. It prevents several cancers, and it is a favorite target of anti-vax grifters, including one of the new members of ACIP. Get the vaccine while you still can.

Tried agentic AI out today. It did not impress me.

Had an in person staff meeting followed by lunch with colleagues and then another colleague’s not-really-leaving drinks (she’s still working here but going fully remote) and my social battery is at 0%.

leftists: that thing you teach us in school to be terrified of is happening historians: that thing is definitely happening star wars: here is a beat-for-beat breakdown of how the thing happens, but with pew pew lasers. we know you watched it news outlets: these protesters are out of control

It’s hard for me to quantify just how much the NEH has meant to my career. Beyond just direct funding, there are *so many* foundational DH projects, methods, and tools that were launched because the NEH was there to support them. It’s a dark day indeed.

Analyzing narratives through data: our course on Modelling and Visualizing Textual Data equips students to explore literature using computational tools, unveiling hidden patterns and structures. Applications are still open for the Master’s in Digital and Public Humanities: www.unive.it/pag/39288/

As many of us people who study or work in tech tried to tell y’all, move fast & break things was always about POWER, not progress.

Martin Luther King: How the greatest activist of his generation was stripped of his political meaning by the American right and turned into a can't-we-all-get-along funko doll.

“Alchemist Review” is a bit on the nose, isn’t it?

Joni Ernst clarified her statements saying that the Dalmatians were going to die in 12 to 14 years anyway and now she has a fabulous winter coat.

Ending a six-year battle that stirred ethical and legal debates about the ownership of photographs taken under duress, Harvard University has surrendered its claim to 15 daguerreotypes at the center of a lawsuit brought by Tamara Lanier, a descendant of enslaved individuals.

i have said this before but this is why it was and is important not to ignore the “NPC” language. these people really believe that other human beings are not real, with all the consequences that flow from this

This is the first media coverage that I have seen of the UNC board's quiet decision to largely pause granting tenure outside of the health sciences. This is worth watching over the coming weeks.

🧪 Attention those with terminated grants, including for NSF, NASA, EPA, NIH, etc: Let Congress know about the impact of terminations via this form: democrats-science.house.gov/grantcancela... Only Dem staff on the House Science Committee will have access (unless if you explicitly state otherwise).

At least if Garnacho’s gone, they can give Heaven his number.

America is now characterized by dangerous stupidity. We’ve taken people who think their ignorance is more valid than the knowledge of experts and put them in charge of everything important. Healthcare, trade, education, defense, national security, etc. All in the hands of the dangerously stupid.

If you do in fact want Covid boosters for yourself or anyone, you can submit public comment to the FDA here: www.regulations.gov/commenton/FD...

Seriously. We’re supposed to quietly resent Harvard, not feel in solidarity with them. This is such bullshit!
