Tonight I braided my hair (didn't want to look like a bird's nest) and took a different route 🤣

I am just hopping back into the habit after a long break. My advice (if you're not used to waking up so early): make it special. Special coffee or tea you reserve for 5AM. Special mug. Special workspace. I found myself looking forward to getting up and treating myself while writing.

I know—but I much prefer this to public restrooms and the porcelain that’s kissed the bare backsides of the masses before me.

Our first tornado warning and we've lived in this house for 20 years. I remember one other tornado warning when I was around 5 years old. My kids got the alert on their phones and thought it was a prank.

You can call your local high school and post a job like this--at least, we do that at our local school. Teenagers looking to make some money can move that dirt.

I worked with your dad on his books for Our Daily Bread. He was great to work with and I enjoyed our conversations about watercolor painting (I was just learning at the time). I'm sorry for your loss.

In the opening of the Hunger Games, Katniss feels for Prim's warmth but it's cold. The Seam is usually packed with coal miners, but it's empty. We learn about Katniss & Prim's relationship, & we've learn about where she lives. We also know something is happening—we want to know what. #kidlitchat

I love using compare/contrast for world building. What is something normally like, how is it different now? This can be something as small as a sensory detail or as big as culture shift. Using compare/contrast propels the story forward. 1/2 #kidlitchat

I've done it myself, it's not hard to do in Detroit.
