Remember when she was in Florida and she openly took a bribe and we all said, "wait isn't that illegal? Aren't you supposed to be sort of doing the opposite of that? And shouldn't the bribe have at least been bigger?" Don't understand how she made it past that.

I read that last bit as "incel in tech" and that absolutely made sense to me.

Ultimately I don't think you can do much besides plow ahead as best you can, knowing you're doing the right thing and hoping that history agrees. But it'd be nice if you could grab the nation by the lapels, give them a good shake, and say, "NOT EVERYTHING IS FAKE THIS IS REAL LOOK AT IT."

Yeah it's hard to be very upset by this. You killed a guy? He did what to you? Oh. Huh. Too bad you got caught.

PPS Be safe at home as well, Kat. Getting doxxed is inevitable.

Angry. But, this also means that some ugly people feel threatened by you. Silver lining I guess? PS you can get 2nd hand / refurbished DIY security cameras relatively cheap if you have a little tech savvy in your crew. Nothing fancy, but gets the job done.

I don't really even like comics, but Krondon was wonderfully entertaining in Black Lightning. Like, fascinating.

Coming from that situation, it's a hell of a mind fuck to escape from. You can't question anything, because if you do, you'll go to Hell. If your own moral compass doesn't align with doctrine, then you must be a bad person. It creates a lot of perverse incentives.

It's the equivalent of running away when they get cornered with a question in the hallways. Avoiding the confrontation doesn't help you learn how to do better. If people are flat wrong or irrational, then you can ignore them. If they're not, you can learn from them. Hiding doesn't help anyone.

A lesson I've been learning on the regular the past few years. If you've got 12 issues you care about, and 3 poll the best, then sure, make those the focus of your campaign. But don't abandon the rest, or worse switch your position. Part of the job is to persuade people to your point of view.

It's so deeply weird.

Private prisons just should be illegal. The incentive becomes keeping people there as long as possible and making sure the ones who get out come right back.

If the goal is a safer society and happy, well-adjusted citizens, our current justice model isn't the solution. If the goal is to exact vengeance while also punishing people for being poor, then we're doing great.

I have to think that the longer folks speak up, the more acceptable it becomes. But it does take way longer than it should, and it's shitty in the meantime. All the more reason allies (flawed as we often are) have to speak up more. Our risk is lower.

A lawyer once told me they had never known of a situation where calling the cops improved the situation. I'm not convinced that's 100% true, but definitely should be considered a last resort.

Awww but you were so pretty in your pink tutu!

It really wasn't that long ago. Sometimes it's surprising we've made as much progress as we have, really. And then you see the folks dead set on dragging us back, and yeah, we really should be doing a lot better.

I was with my ex when she got her IUD inserted. *I* almost passed out because it hurt her so badly.

Remember when they found the video of AOC in college where she was dancing and they tried to make that into a scandal? "WOKE WOMAN IS ALSO HOT!" I have no idea why they think that's helping them.

Look, if God didn't want them to suffer, this wouldn't have happened, and we can't go against God's will, so we have to go out of our way to extend the suffering because that's how you get to Heaven. Plus they probably deserve it, or else God wouldn't have forced us to do this to them.

As someone else here pointed out, if they get rid of it, there's kind of no reason *not* to carry a gun and use it to try to get away if ICE comes for you. You're likely facing a death sentence anyway. Might as well take the chance. Not really a law and order sort of vibe.

Absolutely correct. The gaslighting is getting so constant, we're getting used to it. Soon Pam Bondi will say at a cabinet meeting, "Mr. President, I'm so excited to learn that your physical form is so perfect, you no longer need to empty your bowels," and it'll just be a blip in the news.

They really shouldn't be cooperating at all unless it's objectively 100% upside. Bipartisanship is for parties that both at least give lip service to acting in good faith. Right now, gumming up the works is probably the best thing they can do.

Periodically (haha) I start to think maybe they're improving and then they drop something like "Once Controversial, Impregnating Your Teenage Slave Girl Gaining Acceptance Among Gen Z"

Every time I hear a clip of him, he's basically saying, "oh that makes sense because of some bizarre bullshit you've never heard of before but I'm going to casually drop it in this conversation as though we all understand how true it is and so no explanation is needed."

Yeah, it's incredibly sad that they can no longer count on us, but good to see they figured it out pretty quickly.

And no real conversation in the media (that I have seen) about why these people deserve help, but everyone with TPS has to be kicked out, or all the other examples of us refusing to help folks who need it. America First, unless they're white and speak English. That's close enough.

Oh plus traumatized people we kidnapped and let kids in other nations die when we canceled their aid. That too.

Real interaction: Cop: "You're lying." Me: "Huh? No..." Cop: "Then why aren't you making eye contact with me?" Me, trying to think of the last time I looked anybody at all in the eye, let alone a cop trying to bully me into a false confession: "Huh?"

We went through the same conversation with the Dreamers. We held up the doctors as examples of why they deserved to stay, when all that really mattered was that they grew up here and had done nothing wrong. Don't hold them to a higher standard than the rest of us.

This was my realization as well. I guess they MIGHT learn something from the surveillance on the plane that they didn't learn from Mar-a-Lago, hacked Signal clones, compromised cell phones and what these guys brag about with their drinking buddies. But it almost doesn't matter at this point.
