Asclepias variegata | red-ring milkweed, one of our rarest milkweeds in these parts. milkweeds have an odd reproductive strategy where the sperm (pollen) is contained in a little packet that sticks to pollinator legs and gets slotted in the side of the flower, the stigmatic slit. #nativeplants
