70% of trans people have experienced harassment, assault, or denial of access in public restrooms. In schools with bathroom bans, the likelihood of harm is even higher. These laws claim to 'protect' people, but the data shows that they escalate harm. Read more: bit.ly/4jjCz0P #TransRights

academics should loudly share how issues are impacting their fields or what their expertise can reveal about our situation or how changes are impacting the academy, students, cultures of learning, or our ability to prepare the future workforce - it can become the seed for critical conversations 2/2

Unequivocally yes - speaking out on issues that matter is why tenure exists. It’s most powerful when faculty bring their expertise in to highlight points. Share knowledge from your fields that is relevant to a point people need to hear. knowledge informed communication packs a punch 1/2

HINT: If your computer has a virus that is destroying it from the inside, you shut it down immediately and reboot in a safe mode to fix it. You don't let it continue to run in the flawed configuration.

I think each governing board for each sport should develop,if they haven’t already, standards for competitors that align w/specifics of the sport (archery is very different from basketball) - at scale nationally across sports (e.g. NCAA) is more complex & I think they are actively working on issues

Not in every sport & not every transgender athlete is “bigger/stronger” - every single athlete & unique physical traits and the established governing boards for each sport are best suited to assess fairness and access for their athletes- blanket policies punch down at the most vulnerable groups

There simply aren’t that many transgender athletes- 10 out of 510k in NCAA across all sports categories
