If Breslow can't fill out a staff, which is his supposed edge, without trading almost the entirety of Bloom's hitting crops, it would be a pretty bad look.

No doubt about that, but I would bet sox would decline a 1 for 1

Mike, philosophical question for you. With the rise of fast tracked pitching dev, pitchers adding easy velocity, abundance of arms ect, doesn't that kinda make high end bats ever more valuable?
I feel like the sox wouldn't even do Anthony for Skenes

They're going to go thru so much trouble to get Campbell to 1B just to realize by July the best outfit is Mayer SS Campbell 2B Romy 1B

Lol, what a clown

kinda starting to feel the pain of Casas now. Theyre missing that additional power threat

Fire da coach for a team that ranks 6th in xwOBA, 2nd in Barrel %, 1st in hard hit %

Not breslow? They have an extremely expensive rotation, barely any talent past crochet

No rush guys. Toro is a great option

Okay guys, take your time no problem š

I wonder if he was off limits in the Sale discussions. Not like his pedigree was insanely high. 3rd round pick, 11th ranked Braves prospect in 2024. Hope he doesnāt torch us this weekend!

Thinking about that LA sweet spot graph of prospects going into this season and Drake Baldwin being in another stratosphere. Awesome hitter

It is mostly happenstance though

In my opinion, Devers to 1B shouldn't be seen as a 2nd rate desperation move. It helps short term but its also a lucrative path long term (and insurance on Casas). Makes Devers more valuable, and I also think he could be quite good at 1B with time. Devers clogging up DH for the next 5+ years sucks

On what? I can't think of a better solution than the internal combo of Devers to 1B and some aggregation at DH of Yoshida/Anthony/Duran

love this guy

I mean, they desperately need to replace what Casas projection was. The best route to doing that is unlocking DH. And the 1B defense of Casas and Devers over 162 is probably negligible id bet? It is the best way smooth everything over

Devers to DH was a ridiculous decision from the beginning, and then being unwavering about it from Decemeber-April was even worse

Ground balls or pop ups

Because I watch the games and the bullpen is fine. The offense is on fumes and we have a minor leaguer at 1B
comment in response to

The bullpen is fine. They had a minor leaguer at 1B today with a clear solution

I didn't say to put Yoshida in the field. He should be DH, and its killing them
comment in response to

Toro getting abs over an impact DH has already lost them multiple games. Very nice
comment in response to

Toro playing instead of Yoshida is just painful when the solution is right there
comment in response to

He surely has a fair point to be upset. And breslow had poor communication all winter, I agree. But.. I mean they are a coin flip team to make the playoffs fighting for every inch. Maybe cooler heads prevail eventually
comment in response to

Devers is way more spiteful than I imagined. Wow
comment in response to

There is some of that, but Iād say majority is pointed at Cora/breslow. And rightfully so
comment in response to
post
I don't think the conversation is people are mad at devers here? I'd say the majority are frustrated with decision makers for being tentative. They are a coin flip team to make the playoffs, they have missed playoffs 5 of 6 years. The conversations of devers to 1B should happen immediately

Breslow is a legit moron
comment in response to

The sox trotting out Toro when it could be Devers 1b and yoshida DH is unfathomable. As the season slips away, again
comment in response to

Leave the guy alone! As the sox miss the playoffs for 6 of 7 years, lmao

Insanity, but so perfect for them

Even when he was running hot last month, everything under the hood was highly concerning

comment in response to

They are.. 1 game over .500? What is the logic of "our offense is good so we choose to not make it better". Maybe the sox will make playoffs, maybe they won't
comment in response to

tbf, not going to consistently put up crooked numbers with this in the middle of your order. Let Story run into his homers hitting further down. I think sox will make this adjustment soon
comment in response to

Romy Gonzalez, David Hamilton, Connor Wong, and Rafaela aren't winning us baseball games? wow im stunned
comment in response to

Devers at 1b would be fine, its a pretty easy transition for most 3b. The last 5 hitters in their lineup currently are almost replacement level, you seem to be fine with that
comment in response to

It really makes a lot of sense for unlocking DH. But these guys seem to have made up their mind taking him off the dirt

Joe Ryan on Friday. Good luck
comment in response to

That xwOBA wasnāt sustainable of course and you can see where itās heading. Story is a valuable player. He still shouldnāt be hitting 4th
comment in response to
post
i donāt agree heās been ādoing stuff right at the plateā. heās in a 1-2 count more frequently than anybody. Heās a breather in the middle of a tough lineup
comment in response to
post
Where do you stand on Trevor Story? I feel you are more bullish on him than me. All his under the hood approach numbers are poor, I think heās destined for a low obp season. Batting him 4th and getting so many high leverage abs feels suboptimal
comment in response to
post
Take the 4th best OT at #4 overall
comment in response to

I would say the pitching improved from historically bad to merely bad for 2025, but the hitting went from merely bad to historically bad
comment in response to

Story batting 4th is crazy to me. Let him bat 7th and run into his occasional homers. Does not have the advanced approach to be given these high leverage abs. Would love to see Abreu and campbell higher
