related: only controllable via airpods (tap + gyro movement)

what if to start/stop a session, you take a picture of a stoplight lol
comment in response to post
haha isn't in the extension, just playing around with ui ideas first (check the top link)

still think the "group chat" view is so weird/interesting!! idk how to feel about it
comment in response to post
I think that works, just figured people would want that to be private or at least the option to be since it could get really personal
comment in response to post
yes! i had a similar aspiration for an older app of mine: being able to leave voice notes for future generations.. was just sad thinking about how i would make something that could even last that long (even more than 10 years), if it's simply just an app

cool! here's an initial sketch of it - good point on the starting point as a way to index (or a short geohash?). i think the points could get be too big but it depends on if it's pruned, so maybe a blob like suggested

@bnewbold.net would it be crazy to be make a lexicon for the geojson and the mp3 for the audio? or a new zip format to combine the two.. since right now it’s only the annotations on bsky
comment in response to post
yes! can be walking podcast summer for me
comment in response to post
not sure the right level of permissions here, could take advantage of bsky's thread gating as well or just manually approve
comment in response to post
thanks!! thinking about adding more chats, feels like making a little community map
comment in response to post
oh ok the relative direction not absolute, yea agreed on privacy too (in this case it's in central park vs near home etc, curious what other apps like Strava do or if it's a big issue other than hiding nearby to home)

“bodily movements in space”, would be interesting to see something where you have to wave your phone around and it uses gyro or something

59:12 loved how laurel describes a future podcast ep as a red link on wikipedia
comment in response to post
my thought would be whether it feels like spam on the feed? but a timestamped comment can feel good as a post imo

53:40 shoe untie #3 - we like the interruptions!
comment in response to post
@samuel.bsky.team is it weird to use a post as an annotation system? (i guess overloading feed.post vs a new lexicon), i suppose it's similar to bluesky blog comments

this was lovely! resonating with stopping to take photos. Exploring making an app before for this sort of use, to stop and enjoy, maybe even to record a thought (a voice note or annotation), i think its more about the memory than pace bsky.app/profile/henr...
comment in response to post
would love to hear any other ideas! - maybe a lexicon for reactions would be fun outside of just a like/post? - adding the whole transcript - adding the photos we took (or someone else could take a photo at the same location?)

11:42 tying shoes! typically a source of annoyance, but it felt like a joy to have an excuse to pause in this context

2:30 i wanted a marker, when walking through the mall doors
comment in response to post
2:19 laurel mentions a fun idea around adding a shutter sound when we take a photo

i'll find the other timestamps later, but a few to point out:
comment in response to post
i think we mention it in the chat but also having to deal with the messiness of the outside world, with people in it: crowds, sounds of sirens, people talking, music in the background. this kind of recording is really about being there, not about clear speech
comment in response to post
one fun thing about this is not being able to edit: saves time and have to be ok with what happens, since cutting would create teleporting marker unless you filled it in automatically with interpolation?
comment in response to post
to do this, made a mobile app that can record a walking session (friend mentioned it's like strava), then manually sync'd the gps to audio on a map so you can follow along while listening on a new site
comment in response to post
not sure it's worth making a lexicon (though it would be a learning experience to do it?) when i can just hack it into a post by checking occurrence of a time in the beginning of the post right?
comment in response to post
hm maybe people can leave comments along the path, like youtube comments with timestamps/soundcloud?
comment in response to post
annotate the world, physical (gps) or digital (url)
comment in response to post
yea, also curious how much it costs to run a search indexer so we could all have our own
comment in response to post
oh yes, tho easier to make a new field entirely! can be _field if don’t want to collide, doesn’t prevent it which is surprising/good
comment in response to post
ya it’s difficult to think about, it’s mostly ip to indexer, logged-in is diff case too. whitelist should help, also cached bsky.app/profile/henr...
comment in response to post
Oh I was thinking replacing the ++, it was just a placeholder haha! I’m still thinking about how to best do the annotation, the issue is that the quote itself takes up so many char, maybe move to separate data hidden from normal bsky or put it in the link (I think I made an issue for it)
comment in response to post
none of these feel great but feel more motivated to continue.. thoughts: key shortcuts are nice, "fs" feels like slack/discord. reading one at a time really changes the feel?? same with chat view
comment in response to post
❤️ actually one of the inspirations to look at all this again, "nonlinear conversational medium" is interesting but wonder how it would work on mobile/sidebar, and threads themselves get weird after depth 6? like in the comic, it's weird that a convo is nested if there's a back and forth
comment in response to post
I still find it very different reading a comment on bsky in the sidebar vs. youtube comments, even if it's similar content
comment in response to post
so far i've been plesantly surprised that a random person had made a post about a low count lofi youtube video, or a prof's blog
comment in response to post
discovery via however I found the link, enabled by search! wondering if it can better encourage the long tail of content (less about algo or follows)
comment in response to post
i'd be excited to see posts on arxiv.org, or someone's obscure blog and finding a new friend that happened to resonate on the same niche thing
comment in response to post
0.0.10 some fixes + added a blocklist (not sure it's necessary actually since you can just not add so it's more of a ui thing)
comment in response to post
that would be super cool! I originally wanted a mechanism for leaving a note for a friend on a site that they’d find but that would require private/unlisted data I do wonder how follower filter would work if bsky search doesn’t support it, feels difficult to do as a backend

update 0.0.9: workaround so you don't *have* to login + basic image support + instant loads if previously visited
