Feels like America just inked a kind of Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.

"Yes, I'm a Democrat, but I, too, get tired of turning on my TV and seeing all these interracial couples, all these tr*nnies, and all these men kissing and hugging each other."

They're probably coming, though they'll definitely be horsesht. It won't stop Trumpers from believing them, which, to Musk, is what really matters.

It's a three-day weekend, so if it happens tomorrow, President Musk will claim he's kept his promise. And MAGA will accept that, which is all that matters.

I get the sense that the remedy is going to come from some combo of a bureaucratic revolt (e.g., Fed Gov IT depts just locking errbody outta errthing), organized labor coordinating industrial actions, and mass, nationwide protests. The courts are too slow and the Democratic Party too feckless.

"Are we doing *anything* to prevent this from happening again?"
My money's on "No."
Seriously, how hard is it to (1) close the Quarter to ALL vehicle traffic during major events, and (2) install bollards/barricades like this:

Once you realize that the entire American conservative project is to construct an entirely new reality, this sort of thing starts to make a lot more sense.

Went to Compère Lapin in New Orleans for my birthday. My companion got the Fried Chicken with Jerk Honey Butter and Coconut Grits. He let me try some. Jee. Zus. Christ...
Praying it's still on the menu when I go back down there next month.

Possible that if Kim keeps this up he'll have a military coup to contend with?

My standard replies to this "question":
- "Why shouldn't it be about race?"
- "What else explains the disparity?" (This one usually gets them to admit their racial bias.)
- "It doesn't, but this particular thing is."
- "Because we live in the United States of America."

I'm not looking for validation or pity or scorn. I'm not looking for anything, really. I'm well aware that others often feel like this, too, but I'm curious to know how other folks have resolved these feelings in their own lives -- or how they are thinking of resolving them.
That's all.
