The U.K. doesn’t have unlimited sick leave and the level of sick pay (depending on your job t&cs) ranges from salary equivalent to a weekly pittance of around £100. Most people are in the latter situation and dread having to take sick time off so struggle on working instead of staying at home.

Why does no one ask how China or any other country absorbing the tariffs (even if that was true) brings ‘external revenue’ into the US? There’s never going to be truth from the WH as long as their lies go unchallenged.

I’m wondering how putting in tick or cross in a box at the side of a presidential candidate’s name is indirect voting. Each voter chooses a person which seems direct enough to me. But I take your point about the antiquated electoral college system then messing it all up.

There’s no real parallel between a US President (elected by voters) and a U.K. PM (comes by default of being the leader of whichever party wins the election). U.K. voters can’t themselves change a PM without a general election.

Oh, I think I do appreciate what we have but I also acknowledge that we have some similar problems to the US. Our current government seems to be set on cutting social support and disability benefits so there’s another parallel.

No, none of those things were caused or made worse by Brexit. Other things though most certainly. Brexit was utter madness.

I live in the U.K. We do have homeless people living on the streets, free daycare is very limited and the NHS is creaking at the seams and leaves a lot to be desired in many areas. However we don’t have Trump or Maga so Hurray!

Why won’t one of these interviewers find the courage to challenge the lies? Lutnick has also said that the U.K. will be paying the US billions of pounds in tariffs and that’s just not true.

He’s a constant reminder of how much good government (and any associated rules and regulations) depends on ethical people. And how much the rule makers assumed that anyone elected into such power would have the appropriate ethical qualities and values.

Despicable.

Haven’t taxpayers just paid for a delegation of Republicans to visit and have a photo opportunity in front of caged men?

Why do you think that? What does the UK parliamentary system offer that would facilitate that?

So envious. I pay the equivalent of $6.2 per gallon here in the U.K. Largely because of government tax.
