Which print is this? The new 4k restoration? The rerelease from 20 years ago? Older?

So I'll be doing a west coast release show for sure, and if I can work out a small east coast release event I'll do that, too. After all, New York City is a cheap place to fly in and stay, so why not do something fun and casual?

But this is my very first special of my own, and between school, freelance writing gigs, getting back into some kind of shape, and my work in comedy, I have been too distracted and tired to deal with the fact that this is something to be excited about!

Similar thing happened to Doc Ellis the night he pitched a no-hitter on acid. He thought the Pope was handing him a ball to bless but it was a Christian baby. Luckily the batter missed the 90mph baby and everyone turned out all right.

Anyway, the news of Brian Wilson's passing has really hit me harder than I would have expected. I think the last time I felt like this was when Prince passed. Anyway, here's maybe the most perfect recording of a perfect song ever put to wax: www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0lj...

Anyway, I'm not saying never quit on your dreams. Sometimes quitting on an unsustainable dream takes you places you couldn't have imagined. But I'm saying just for today you can hold the line.

So Sergio Leone flew out to L.A. with a suitcase full of cash and met Lee Van Cleef in a motel room in I think the Valley. At that point, Van Cleef has been three years out of show business, had pretty much quit, and didn't have the money to pay his electric bill.

On TV, he was doing walk-ons in Westerns. I think his last TV appearance before "Few Dollars" was 'My Mother the Car' where Wikipedia says he played a "purse thief".

So Sergio Leone remembered Lee Van Cleef from his career in Hollywood, despite Van Cleef's career being spent making walk-on roles. Before 'FaFDM', his last roles had been a tiny role in 'The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance' and a role in 'How the West Was Won' in which he had no lines. That was 1962.
