I am utterly sick of powerful elected Democrats telling magazine interviewers what the party should start doing you can just DO THINGS you are a senator

-S Duffy, first known as MTV reality-show figure, does not know first thing about aviation. (People who know about aviat: Give me counterexample if you disagree.) -He gleefully joined corrupt bonfire of FAA staff and plans when coming in. -Only interest is blame-deflection. But it's on him now.

He's the British Gavin Newsom -- an empty suit. but less handsome and worse teeth.

I can't top this one.

The gall of these people and their 20/20 hindsight. She probably believed this back in 2023 but was too chickenshit to say anything. Too scared to lead, like almost every other Democrat.

Trump pausing tariffs is kind of a "who cares?" by now. Uncertainty is already baked in to everyone's economic calculations, and nobody trusts Trump to stick to anything. New polling from the Guardian shows that people's decision making is being affected by tariffs. That won't change overnight.

My post on Trump's new airplane is illustrated with a picture of Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum flying commercial to the G20 summit. We need to get over the notion that we're less corrupt that countries that we look down on.

My latest on the possibility that Republicans will decide to tax the rich. Doubtful.

[me stuffing gold bars into my suit jacket] listen, all of you who want to eject me from the party for "corruption" and "bribery" just want to shrink the tent!

THE PRESIDENT, WHO HAS NUCLEAR CODES AND TALKS TO HEADS OF STATE CONSTANTLY, CAN'T FLY AROUND ON A JET GIVEN TO HIM BY THE MOST CORRUPT OIL WIERDOS ON EARTH THERE IS NO OTHER "ANGLE" TO THIS STORY

Oh, shit, there goes the Glyllenhaal/Sarsgaard $10 million donation for one corner of a classroom.

When I heard that the GENIUS crypto bill had been filibustered, I thought Dems had finally wised up on crypto. Unfortunately, I'm probably wrong. Stablecoin is just another flavor of scam, and anyone who supports it now will look like an idiot later.

Showing once more how it's done. Again, she should replace Schumer.

As someone who will be flying to Newark soon, I have less confidence in the aviation system now than before Trump 2.0. In addition to the widely-publicized ATC issue there, and the near-misses and runway hits elsewhere, why did they fire the NTSB vice-chair?

And here’s the YouTube of Part 1 of our interview with @ebharrington.bsky.social Come for the stories about sociopathic tech bros. Stay for the discussion of Festinger and Goffman youtu.be/5oGqf1dO5h8?...

THE POWER OF PITCHBOT COMPELS YOU

The second episode of Personality Crisis, hosted by @johngcole.bsky.social , produced by @nytpitchbot.bsky.social and directed by me is now up. It features @ebharrington.bsky.social 's insights on the broligarchy.

My take on the tidal wave of AI slop that threatens to overwhelm us all, and its use in propaganda.

Kay has a new piece on the Trump taxes. The "no tax on overtime" has morphed into a relatively small cut which is income-limited. Republicans do love to means-test, as long as only the poor and middle class will be hurt. heymistermix.com/p/trump-taxes

The real evidence that MAGA's professions of faith are hollow and meaningless isn't just that they don't follow the teachings of Jesus. It's that they're not afraid of hell.

Kay has an interesting piece on the trades -- did you know that the building trades and their partners invest $1 billion a year in training? Or that they have an education system larger than most state university systems?

Re-upping my take, which is there's no way Crockett will win, and it will probably be Lynch. That was a week ago, nothing has changed. heymistermix.com/p/jasmine-cr...

What's the hard core bottom of Trump's support? Is it more than just rubes who believe in the lizard people? A recent, decent poll makes me think it's much higher than the crazification factor (27%).

Today's ruling on banning trans members of the military makes me want to talk about morally empty centrism of members like Gluesenkamp Perez.

Readers sent me a couple of good links. First, a screen in the Nation about retribution and justice. Second, the retirement of an 86-year-old abortion provider in Boulder. This guy is a saint.

Kay has two good pieces today. First, a look at Detroit's Independent Mayor, Duggan: heymistermix.com/p/duggan-in-... Second, a note that things are going to get worse for women in this country: heymistermix.com/p/this-count...

My update on the anti-trans haters. I forgot to mention Janet Mills' win after standing up to the Trump administration. Good for her.

As a serious, issues-minded conservative, I used to have an obsessive hatred of AOC. But now that she's gotten older, I've developed an obsessive hatred of Kat Abu.

Point this one out to the Trumpy males in your life. Why would a woman want to be with a member of a movement that takes away their health care?

Some better-late-than-never commentary on the Australian election. Also, pointing and laughing at Pierre Poilievre finding the ultimate safe-space riding in western Alberta, a place far from the cushy Ottawa suburb he used to represent. I hope he enjoys bitter cold and wide-open spaces.

Trump's disaster of a MTP interview, where he states the Trump ration of dolls and pencils, is political gold for an opposition party that can just open their mouths and say something about it. People hate rationing and austerity. The politics here are dirt simple.

I'm in the super-red home town where I grew up, visiting family, and learning about how bad the schools have gotten here. They used to be decent. I felt that I got a good education. I don't know how kids there today could do as well as I did.

A defining fact about Trump is that he fundamentally believes in nothing. With tariffs it seems we may have weirdly found the one real exception, that he’s a true believer. Which could turn out to be key to his downfall.

Rochester NY has a lot of poverty and a lot of related grift. @rachbarnhart.com has a good piece about that. Here are my comments.

My piece on the supposed regrets of Bukele, who finally realized there might be consequences for him and his government in the future. Small violin, cry me a river, etc.

Stand up to him, get rewarded. Try to placate, he'll just demand more. The way is clear

Kay’s piece is a reality check on the popularity of the Democratic Party.

Kay has a piece on all the bad things happening in public education, especially in her home state of Ohio, and in Oklahoma as well.

Yadira Caraveo could have been a great candidate to win back CO-8 after losing it in 2024. But she made some dumb "move to the center" votes on immigration in her first session of Congress. @kylec.bsky.social 's interview with her shows how badly this stock DCCC strategy is going to play in 2026.

I don't see the Waltz move to the UN as a big demotion. It's about the least Trump could do in response to Signalgate, and he took his sweet time doing it. He just doesn't want to fire people, plus, in the current environment loyalty matters most, and Waltz is loyal.
