This is the thing about abusers: they’re going to abuse, no matter what you do. Appeasing them or “not giving them an excuse” doesn’t stop them from abusing. Claiming that we can stop them from becoming violent by just “doing it the right way” seems both immoral and factually inaccurate.

no relief for consumers who paid the higher prices, just extra money for the companies.

Being stolen in mass by the administration seems so very possible. Every bit of oversight has been crushed.

So many progressive policies poll well across the parties, yet the dems aren't chasing those. Idk how much evidence is required but it certainly looks like the Democratic party is actively not choosing good strategy on purpose rather than due to incompetence.

2020 saw a major effort made to give people a path to vote, this is why turn out was better in 2020.

Advertising requires vaccination. You have to learn how do detect and tune it out. That comes from exposure today but I suspect a better world could do it without having to watch actual ads.

The people costing us the most are Trump and the billionaires.

If we are very lucky, Trump will get taken as a title like Caesar was and a future world will appoint the trump of commerce.

Most who who have done the actual scientific analyses agree that global warming has accelerated. Some who agree scientifically are hesitant to say so publicly. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Y'all all are failing to understand what he means by we. It's him and the oligarchs. They didn't get all the money that goes to buy things from China.

I really like the idea that people speak a different language to talk with the computers from people. So that you can interweave conversations with humans and commands to the computer.

The other is that everyone is going to talk to the computer.

The core thing that will get flushed out after the hype is understanding that the main limitation on AI is it cannot be trusted. What will happen is that office work will be converted from producing documents/spreadsheets/designs to reviewing and correcting those made by the machine.

Ai will be like the adoption of computers into bookkeeping. It's going to slowly improve a fairly big set of tasks, transforming the nature of a bunch of kinds of work. Work where the results can be easily checked for correctness.

“It’s building a coalition around a more conservative left view of politics. And by conservative, I don’t mean reactionary,”[..]“It’s about the importance of conserving what matters to people. It’s a revolt against change.” Actually that's exactly what being reactionary means, reacting to change.

I'm sure only a few voting is bad.

The road to trump winning a plurality of approval by all voters is a very long one that involved 2 EC over popular vote wins. Trump only got 31% of all voting eligible people to vote for him, suggesting that none of those details matter is insanity. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voter_t...

This whole debate is like a bunch of people watching a bridge fall over and proclaiming that no possible alternative exists to improve the bridge. Just because its about organizing people doesn't make it magically immune to applying science and constructing ever better systems.

The turn to the camera and the "media, are you ready" to me suggests that the point was to tell an absolutely insane lie and get away with it. To try to prove, try and show off how the truth is meaningless.

The constant screaming and yelling at people on Bluesky who even dare to mention the ways they use tools in an empowering way is getting pretty ridiculous and it doesn't help. There are ways to use tech well. Figure those out. Make the world better rather than just screaming at people.
