Thanks. Will dive in this evening.

The word “holocaust” and the context from which it arises needs to be given closer scrutiny.

30 loaves per week! So about 120 loaves per month? 18$ divided by 120 = 1.5 cents per loaf. Hmm … not terrible when you put it that way.

Three things that piss me off: 1. Tourists who think every other foreign-looking person is a tourist. 2. Entitled tourists. 3. Tourists.

Much. 👍

That’s how it’s done! Good to see you made it over here.

Very true. And that’s just Japan 101. It can take decades to get a comprehensive, realistic perspective.

Nope, not Japan. This “in Japan” BS just gets so tiring, and there seems to be an endless supply.

The Studio JTM (leftmost) is an amazing little amp. The Studio Plexi to its right is also excellent. The whole Studio series is great, but those two really appeal to me … so I have both (the heads, not the combos). No regrets. If I had to choose it’d be the JTM, but I don’t want to choose. 😁

In my area garbage collection is paid from our neighborhood fees (区会費), not taxes. People who don’t pay are not *entitled* to use the collection service. There was a court case about that in the news recently. I think that is pretty common. Might be taxes in more cosmopolitan areas though.

As long as you’re not flinging picks at your adoring fans, four ought to be enough for a couple of days. 😁

Guitar immersion for a whole weekend! Sounds like fun. 👍

The whole government “Let’s increase tourism to pay off our debts” brain fart has been handicapped by a total lack of forethought and planning. Infrastructure? Nah.

Just FYI, May 5 is Children’s Day in Japan. But yeah, Earth Day. She’s the only one we’ve got.

Kind of understandable. Doctors really need a bit of levity in their otherwise depressing days. 🤡

Don't have a 3776, but I have to agree on the Platinum Carbon. That is some serious black. And waterproof (I believe).

“Permanent digital storage” is a pretty good example of an oxymoron. The people who did this are stellar examples of morons.

Well how 'bout that .... a fountain pen feed! Thanks for that.

No Platinum or Lamy (yet), but I do have a cheap Pelican that is great, and (somewhere in the house) a Mont Blanc that I bought around 40 years ago. It isn’t the “famous” one, but still a really nice pen and I am devastated that I can’t find it. Found the box though!

Don’t run across many fountain pen geeks these days. I only have about 6, including a Sailor Pro Gear which I agree is excellent, but my favorites are two Pilot Custom 823s, one in black and one in amber (I think it’s called). Different inks in each, of course. Love those pens.

The word "quota" springs to mind.

I saw that. Unbelievable. I think the ongoing disaster in the US is shifting worldwide baselines for “morality” in entirely the wrong direction, and that frankly scares the crap out of me.

Fingers crossed. Some smart governance and solid European unity would be reassuring right about now.

Another unforeseen drawback of Brexit, to be sure. So far no pluses, it seems. Hoping the severity of the situation will give rise to an effective and long-lasting solution.

Man ... I can smell those things. Used to love doing that sort of thing, but at this stage of life the time invested just doesn't make sense. Priorities change. Still have signal generators and oscilloscopes and what-have-you, just in case. 😁

I went to a Catholic boy’s school (it was the only viable choice in Tokyo at the time). The cognitive dissonance as an agnostic/atheist was harsh, to say the least.

Yeah, very suspect. I bet you would have seen the back of him real quick if you had said “Hang on a sec., I’ll just call the UNHCR to check.”

Matt. Masumi Kuwata’s (baseball player) kid. He’s made a name for himself by looking like that, but jeez.

Also, ringing doorbells asking for money for refugees just reeks of scam, no matter how many ID cards they’re wearing around their necks. Aum Shinrikyo used to do that too.

Roy isn't as well know as Victor, who is one of my favorite bassists. Looks like an older version of the Drumitar in the video. It has evolved a bit. No idea about the SynthAxe aspect. He does some nice stuff with it live with Béla Fleck and the Flecktones (which may not be your cup of tea).
comment in response to post
Bassist Victor Wooten’s brother Roy (drummer) uses an electronic input thing that hangs around his neck on stage with The Flecktones. Designed it himself, apparently, and calls it the Drumitar. Whatever it takes, I guess.

Handy widgets, and you can sort of learn to “play” them as opposed to just using them to “program”. I can’t seem to break away from using a standard keyboard though. Old habits die hard.

Thought there were 14~16 young women in your store there for a sec. Quite a crowd. But they were 14~16 years old. Got it now. Ya done good.

Why those sneaky ... very interesting. Thanks. Might not be possible for me because of client connections, but still very good to know.

“Extortionate” is a word that comes to mind. Live music is getting more expensive, but that takes it to a new level. On the other hand, playing live is about the only way artists can make a living these days (unless they’re highly-paid movie score composers 🧐).

I’ve seen them simply called エリプソイダル スポットライト. Direct kana-ization.

The enshittification continues. I love how a previously nonexistent “commercial-free option” materializes out of thin air.

The CE-2 is another sweet old classic. I have the Waza Craft version. Sounds great.

You may not have a "board," but you have pedals! The GE-7 is a classic. I use mine all the time, and an EQ-200.
