Look at J.D. Vance showing up at a party he wasn't invited to and is not wanted at, trying to assert himself. Must remind him of high school, or every day of his life.

For his first half year as "incoming"/acting president of Midland University, Sasse was paid through an offshore shell company belonging solely to him, rather than as an employee, ostensibly a tax dodge, at a rate 250% of his eventual starting salary. He listed the shell company on his UF résumé.

In 2019, Ron DeSantis was $263,000 in debt to J.G. Wentworth—the 877-CASH-NOW folks...reclaiming a lump sum payment for an annuity that disappeared or never materialized?
DeSantis ran for governor to get at that mansion, he was struggling to afford his home.

UF Board of Trustees made the pick. Florida System Board of Governors, 14 of 17 members picked by the governor, gave the thumbs down.

This is:
• Kick-backs.
• Tax dodges.
• Real estate grifts.
• Steered investments.
• Access to endowment funds as investment capital.

One roommate/partner would later have his law license suspended after allegations of mishandling $100,000 in client funds (keeping/spending client settlement awards) and lying to investigators about it.
He resigned his law license to avoid investigation.

Ben Sasse did this at Midland University, c. 2012, in preparation for his Senate run, and to disguise how destructive his tenure there had been.
Maybe not the architect, but his ideas and tactics are pervasive and influential. He was ahead of his time then, and now a key source of inspiration.
