Posted in honor of Memorial Day. From President Abraham Lincoln to Fanny McCullough, daughter of Lincoln’s old friend, William McCullough, who was killed in the war in 1862. I’m not sure more beautiful, heartfelt words were ever written. (Source: abrahamlincolnonline.org)

I’m so glad the leader who is telling our kids to accept fewer dolls this Christmas—or to accept just a handful of pencils (!!!)—is practicing self-abnegation himself by not accepting rich dude toys from foreign governments. You keep telling those kids, Sir, about the value of doing without.

And what about the 11-year olds who barely have five pencils now and no dolls? What about them?!

You don’t know? That’s literally what you MUST do. www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...

Wondering about the Venn Diagram for those who excoriated Sinead O’Connor for ripping up a picture of the Pope on SNL and those who think Trump’s AI image of himself as Pope is hilarious.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! Let me crawl up to my soapbox after a long week. You don’t teach kids to love America by erasing veterans. You don’t teach kids to love America by inflating victories, hiding struggles, & ignoring problems. As with all relationships, love comes from honesty.

100 days. Feels like I’ve aged 100 years. And watched the U.S. go back 200.

Nonsense My President Force-Fed Me, Chapter 97.

It goes without saying, but I’d much rather have a teacher seminar with NEH funds than a garden of bronze…

This moment in time is a moral, philosophical reminder that leadership matters. Like really matters. That may sound obvious, but seems worth noting nonetheless.

It's excruciating to have someone who cares so little for the discipline of American history do so much damage to it... Just smashing and splintering all that stands in his way, in a race to July 4, 2026. He is teaching all of us a hell of a history lesson, though. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/19/a...

Thank you, Sen. Van Hollen, for standing up not just for Kilmar Abrego Garcia and his family but for every American who believes in due process. We can't stop speaking out until he is home and this administration is forced to stop its horrific practice of kidnapping people without charge or trial.

She said the quiet part out loud. What many of us have long suspected. Certainly not a sign of a healthy democracy.

Guys, I love all of you, but the answer to RFK, Jr. is not that autistic adults hold jobs, pay taxes, and get laid, it's that everyone deserves to live even if they can't work, pay taxes, or get laid.
