Trump is testing the boundaries of his power right now. His military escalation in Los Angeles is a rehearsal for what MAGA wants to do across the nation. That’s why we need millions of Americans to join us tomorrow for peaceful protests on #NoKings Day: www.nokings.org?SQF_SOURCE=i...

The far-right government of the United States has encouraged the military to become a domestic enforcement arm of the ruling regime.

Reminder: polling shows a slim majority of voters support mass deportations IF violent drug-trafficking criminals are the subject. But when u put the ppl/places *actually* being torn apart by ICE—kids, schools, working people, hospitals—support plummets. KEEP EVERYDAY PEOPLE IN THE FRAME. Always.

We should protect the Dreamers and young people who know no other home than America. When DACA is under attack, so are the dreams, hopes, and futures of DACA recipients and their families. Congress must act—DACA must remain in place.

I finally wrote about a Seattle transit topic that comes into my head every single time I'm walking downtown. It's time to bring transit back to First Avenue. www.theurbanist.org/2025/06/11/o...

The scenes from Los Angeles are a stark reminder that Trump's mass deportation agenda has already begun—a deliberate assault on immigrant families that violates our most basic values of human dignity and due process. Make no mistake: these are not targeted operations against dangerous criminals.

The elections committee of @theurbanist.org is doing our all-day back-to-back-Zoom-meeting endorsement interviews this weekend! It’s hours & hours of volunteer time bc we believe connected, affordable, beautiful communities are possible if electeds have the courage & vision to fight for them.

Busting up big corporations and tackling Wall Street’s greed. Getting big money out of politics.  Strengthening unions and fighting for higher wages. Medicare for all, paid family leave, universal childcare... This is the progressive populist agenda we need in America.

WA’s growing diversity not reflected in elected officials, study finds “Men, white people and those 45 years old and over hold a disproportionate share of elected offices in Washington state, with few exceptions”

ICYMI — a new study by WA Community Alliance just came out in the Seattle Times revealing the extent of the gap between what our communities look like & what our elected leadership looks like. In conclusion: very few legislators are *not* white men over 45 🥴 www.removepaywall.com/search?url=h...

Fine, I’ll say it: THIS IS NOT FUCKING OKAY. We have to use our voices to speak out against what is happening. We must refuse to let history repeat itself. Reject the racism, and the authoritarianism. Believe in your own power to transform this country. Our future depends on it.

I don’t think I’ve ever hated a trivial thing more than I hate the new iPhone update to the photos app

You can have this idea for free: your spotify wrapped eras make for *perfect* party themes imo. I’m using Vintage Hollywood Harlem Renaissance Jazz for my January bday party mark my words

I’m sitting with the weight of the fact that an entire district of people in our city has been disenfranchised by 8 people they didn’t elect, because those 8 people were beefing like petulant children with the 1 person that district *did* elect. It’s heavy.

If you didn't follow the whole city budget process this is a pretty accurate summary of what went down

There have been a lot of times where I feel like we need to have honest discussions on the left about what has worked and what hasn’t, share observations without judgement, but it feels like there isn’t much space for it. I think it’s holding us back. I wonder how and where we can accomplish that.

I hereby dedicate my first bluesky post to the Seattle Office of Labor Standards. Here’s OLS going after Uber (again) for trying to steal from workers (again). Enforcement & labor rights education are THE way to make those rights real in the lives of workers. www.seattletimes.com/business/ube...

Whoa!

Americans support the two engines of opportunity at the core of AFT: the labor movement and public ed. Voters approved school funding measures across the country, and they rejected or repealed school voucher proposals everywhere they were on the ballot. www.aft.org/column/fight...

1/ X's algorithm was changed in mid-July 2024 to systematically boost Republican-leaning accounts and Elon Musk's own account following his endorsement of Donald Trump, according to a newly released computational study of engagement from the Queensland University of Technology.⬇️

New from @natashalennard.bsky.social. "Facing a second Trump term, Lennard says the way forward is a politics of everyday life and radical action that focuses on empowering grassroots movements and labor organizations." theintercept.com/2024/11/15/g...

We’re going to keep adding to this, but here is our initial labor movement starter pack! go.bsky.app/T5TigE2
