Reporting LIVE from Go Wokemont, Go Brokemont, it's the US Open! More like the US Open Borders thanks to Joe Biden! If it were up to MY FATHER, a war hero and Republican, this tournament would only be filled with AMERICAN golfers!

Now trying to think of the best strategy for this game. I *think* it would be try to drink 6 on the Front 9. That would get you close to 30 inches by the turn, and any on the Back 9 would be a bonus when they really start to kick in.

Would be a blast for a round, but also the next day would be FULL of regret.

Also kind of willing to give him the benefit on that Players playoff collapse because it was 30mph winds, and even hitting onto 17 in normal conditions is tough, can’t imagine with it blowing like that.

He’s really hitting it close (relatively speaking for a US Open) and for the time being has figured out the chipping woes. Burns, man if he can at all find a fairway has been great but I can’t see going 7 of 14 off the tee again and surviving.

Oh man, I was going to say I wouldn’t trust Spaun because of his collapse at the Players lol. But I agree on Scottie. He seems like the only one I could see shooting 65 maybe, and really making them sweat the last 5 holes if he is sitting inside at E or -1. My non-Scott guess would be Hovland.

If there’s ANY sliver of hope for some of the names at +3 and +4, it’s that other than Scott, there is not a lot of folks who have contended in a major before, so who knows how they’ll handle that.

Yeah, the Back 9 in particular seemed like guys had a fighting shot to post a good score. Wonder if they’ll get more before tomorrow or if it really dries out. Sure to be some violent pin placements.

Oh my god I’d have been in BIG trouble.

Also rooting for the guy playing a Maxfli to win. That would rule.

The ultimate would be an E tomorrow with 18 pars.

There’s worse picks! Really, all the guys in the hunt aside from Ortiz, I’m cool with.

David Sims in Tin Cup wasn’t wrong when he said he would take 18 pars all day long. But his problem is he wasn’t playing Oakmont.

Got the block for pointing out that Jerry Lawler is in fact a bad person

Listen I know Trump is bad and sucks shit, but we don’t have to pretend he’s so bad that Jerry Lawler is a good person.

Would also like to note that golf is incredibly dumb. Again was bad with the driver. Had a post-round range session where I just focused on being smooth: Swing speed stayed the same, was hitting the middle more often, and hitting it just as far as when I try to speed up, with a little baby draw 🤡🤡🤡

Man. I haven’t seen that since, like you say, college. There was a liquor store up the road from our apartment that sold it in 30 packs. It was our go-to cheap beer that we always kept on hand.

Not even close. Needed a 72, shot 78.

Legitimately, I never know when they play! I like to think I follow golf closer than 95% of the people on here, and I could not tell you when or where they play. Not that I would watch anyway, but the first barrier is just being aware of it, and yeah, couldn't tell you their schedule or TV stuff.

Whoa big shocker, this guy is +7 and dropping, and looking like he's going to miss the cut at yet another major. But sure, best player in the world or whatever.
comment in response to
post
And if that's the case, I just need to shoot 70 today to make the cut! (Or 71 depending on your thoughts on the sim software forcing me to take a drop on a hole)
comment in response to
post
Yeah, have to think +4 would get you in EASY, what with the afternoon groups not out yet, but we'll see. I think in 2016 it was +6, so that seems like a logical place for it to settle.
comment in response to

Projected cut at the moment is +4. Based on that, I shot +6 yesterday (+5 if the sim wasn't woke and broke) so I need a 68 today at home if we're looking to make the weekend. Can we do it? WHO KNOWS!

*bozo who thinks people shouldn't be allowed to have fall weddings*
what kind of comedian schedules a show on a college football saturday?! You talk about selfish, we only get 19 weeks of college football now and i'll be damned if I'm going to spend it seeing some "comedian"!!1!!1!

Would also like it noted that *Technically* I shot 75, but the game made me take a drop on 18 because I hit my drive onto another green, and it wouldn’t read my shot on the sim until I took a drop to a spot off the green.

My wife constantly says we need to meal prep and bring lunch from home. But I also want garbage and a reason to get out of the office, even if it’s just to drive to 5 minutes to the Zaxbys near my office.

The first three albums from them were all heaters. Then once they got big after “Only by the Night” and started and started sniffing their own farts, it went down hill in a HURRY.

I don’t want to say conspiracy, but it seems like lately it’s become clown car golf, all in the hope of “preserving par” or whatever. Like last year at Pinehurst, and the slopes on those greens, coupled with the sporadic long grass in the sand, it just felt like Catch A Break Roulette.
comment in response to
post
The other thing with Oakmont, is the greens are lightning, but they’re not stupid sloped like Pinehurst or Augusta. They’re just kind of gradual breaks that happen to be on enormous greens.
comment in response to
post
Yeah the greens don’t bother me, that’s a skill to chip and putt on that speed. But only being able to hack the ball out of the rough and not play any sort of real shot is stupid.
comment in response to
post
Oh I don’t want -12 either, but I also think guys should have a fighting chance to advance the ball out of the rough. If it’s anywhere up to say -5, I’m fine with that. This just seems like setting up as stupid as possible just to see if it will upset the pros.

I am fully ready to hate watch this tournament. Going to be just idiotic between the rough and these pins.

Therapy and a hotel are both $200+ and come with an uncomfortable bed and lousy coffee, but at least the hotel also has ESPN for after I'm done decompressing.

The coffee isn't even good, but one of my favorite things on a work trip is to make the coffee that comes in the room, and just sit there and drink it in peace. No rushing, mess around on my phone, whatever is on TV. Better than therapy.
