For those who need to see it to believe it. Truly unhinged, a masterclass in moral depravity and imperial hubris

The anti-Chinese hysteria in US media grows more and more unhinged by the day.

I cannot emphasize this enough, an Israel-Western regime change operation against Iran would lead to hundreds of thousands of deaths. We have seen this play out before, several times in the past decades. Anyone who tries to justify this madness will have blood on their hands.

I’m genuinely curious about the Huawei recommendation. Does Iran have a reliance on Apple products? I thought that due to sanctions and Apple’s overall higher prices, products from companies like Huawei would be more popular there.

Mr. Mamdani, you are one of the few things in this world that is giving me hope right now. I’m not from NY, but I wish you a resounding victory all the same!

Am I wrong for being put off by the Japanese in this? Is the person behind this a native JP speaker? I ask because I heard a literal translation of "I am your enemy," and there is a tendency in online spaces to use JP as a way to exotify something even if the JP is incorrect.

you just DON'T get to talk about lifting people out of poverty while ignoring the climate situation. it's irresponsible and anti-life. you don't get to talk about potential societal improvement while others are caught totally destabilized. it's so brazenly contradictory.

I wonder what the stereotypes about Southeast Asia, Mexico, etc. are gonna be when China outsources some of their manufacturing to them.

Babies that are about to die of starvation are already in an acute state of malnutrition, massively more vulnerable to infant and child mortality. This is intentional. This is genocide by the Zionist regime, and there is no other word to describe it.

As a teacher I think about this every damn day. What are my students going to be saying to me in 10 years when genAI has been normalized in schools?

Very sad 😔 I have always admired Japan for being an example of a country where a pacifist constitution may be possible in the long run (even if it was a peace that was forced on it). Hopefully people stop being so anti-China (because that is what’s causing it) and don’t go down the path of war.

MIT has systematically engaged in the repression of pro-Palestine voices and has made a VERY concerted effort to hide their cooperation with Israel. They have, unfortunately, not joined the fight.

How to boycott Microsoft's Xbox:

Genocide is not a game. By boycotting the Xbox brand, we're pressuring Microsoft to end its complicity in Israel's genocide, occupation and apartheid against Palestinians.

Anyway the actual scandal is that the administration is bombing Yemen

I don’t really think we should make fun of this person but rather empathize… millennials and gen z have known next to no social stability in their lifetimes, so the need to make stuff up is just a reflex against this

I see. It makes sense when you put it in historical terms. Thank you very much.

This is horribly confusing. Why would they do this when they should instead be trying to develop their humanities departments to compete with western ones which are also weakening? Is there a domestic angle that I am missing here? Sorry for the over-geopolitical framing btw, it just came to mind.

And I don't want to imply that games like Terraria are designed to be addictive. Certainly, I share the majority of the blame in this case for letting myself play the game that long. But the fact that I was proud of my hour count is concerning.

This resonates very deeply with me. I remember telling one of my professors (proudly, I might add) that I had put 1000 hours into Terraria, and he had a look that conveyed both shock and horror on his face. I was taken aback at the time, but now I understand why he reacted the way he did.
