My son took the dog for a walk. Took his keys, poo bags, the lead. Was halfway to the park before he spotted he’d forgotten the dog. He was 16.

He’s absolutely fantastic. Just not sure he’s no.1.

Generous to Giggs. Harsh, to say the least, on De Bruyne.

Much dementia care is good or excellent, but there is an issue, undoubtedly, with care homes being under-resourced and under-staffed. Which makes the ending of the social care visa system a baffling development.

Having just read Wide Sargasso Sea, I am re-reading Jane Eyre for the first time in 30+ years. Slightly more ponderous prose than I remembered.

Have been a member since my teens, too (albeit with two despairing quits in that time). I feel a third coming on.

We feel a long way off a challenge to a leader who did, to be fair to him, win a stonking majority less than a year ago.

I imagine I’ll stay, just by virtue of having forgotten all my log-in details.

But what to do, as members? Leave in protest, or stay and argue for something better?

I always have Dolly Parton as the productivity benchmark, for - allegedly - writing Jolene and I Will Always Love You on the same day.

Sadly, given this is the Express, I suspect it is the ‘freedom’ not to see foreigners on the streets of Britain.

Most people - not all, but most - want to work in person-centred ways, I think. But as you say, our systems thwart it at nearly every step.

Because you hate the bongos, or because you have a soft spot for them, and don’t like to see them banned?

All true, and I am sharing your pain. The only defence, I guess, is that they are harder to game by the sharp-elbowed middle classes than anything coursework-based.

Really disappointed that the Guardian is giving this space.

I loved Duran Duran back in the day - absolutely loved them. But that lyric was as weak then as it is now.

I went to see The Penguin Lessons yesterday. Good film, and a reminder of just how inherently funny penguins are.

Tremendous book, isn’t it?Perhaps tails off a little towards the end? But the approach and scope are so impressive.

I took the unusual step of actually buying a copy today, to read at the cricket. Was reminded, as ever, of the pleasures of a real-life paper.

Like the absence of the quiz in the Guardian, your listing of HIGNFY serves as a useful reminder that it is not actually a Saturday.
