Hope he does it so everyone can see once and for all how stupid the accusations are.

Yeah, I thought I knew what happened, but I found out that I didn't. Luckily I found the crux of the event in the quoted sentence above. :D

Fuck that.

A single, out of context sentence from the long-ass explanation of what happened in the Wikipedia page: "Some white people were thrown into the river." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montgom...

Loved it! I appreciated the framing of defining Jim Crow in terms of control of labor. Most school/book learnin' just leans into the plain racism aspect of it, I think. (The volume of the parenthetical was a decent bit lower and I got surprised by how loud it was when you returned.)

Here's a nice, accessible history lesson on the Inca Empire if folks want to hear a little more about khiphus. youtu.be/I-9z_Jc81fw?...

"in hand"? These people all act like children who think that using an odd word or phrase automatically makes them sound smart.

This is a great thread, but also, start naming them. The right wingers responsible for the heightened violence have names and they should be called out.

Whose violence, Hakeem?

Have you guys had the chance to watch the video yet? Pretty interesting stuff if you haven't checked it out yet.

Wow. Not the highest quality post from me, but, wow.

Better here because when someone responds to you, you can reasonably expect that they're an actual person earnestly engaging with you rather than some troll farm guy just saying some dumb stuff.

I feel like there are just hundreds of these stories out there...

Just an insane person saying insane things.
comment in response to post
Absolutely insane response by the plain meaning of the language... "There is a reason. I don't know what the reason is. Trump is 'important' because there is a reason that he thinks a thing."

Runners can't leave the base until the pitcher releases the ball, so there's quite a bit less stealing in the game. LH catchers that throw from the same side as a RH batter (which is more common), is less of an issue.

Many of them will never, ever figure it out. They've beaten all ability for introspection out of themselves.

I wonder what the "something" is that he's trying to preserve...

So, ethnic cleansing, then?

Huh, 7-2 is a funny score for this supreme court, eh?

@miniminuteman.bsky.social this is for you

Yeah? What are you gonna do about it? They won't stop doing things like this unless you stop them.

All those people doing such an admirable job keeping their straight faces. Not a single brow furrowed!

Just gonna jot these four lines down to steal for lyrics, thank you! A place for serious business, there's certainly no room for shenanigans here. There's no room for tomfoolery, no room for clownish buffoonery.

Everyone should recognize that the claim, "everybody wants to shop here," is the exact opposite of his main (stupid) complaint, which is that we have huge trade deficits with everyone, because we import so much more than we export. Literally the opposite.

She was definitely like, "that's nice, dear", rolling her eyes at him, and he took it as earnest because he's nothing if not a complete dope, right?

Lol, I love the idea that to Republicans, an example of innovation and out-of-the-box ideas is to reopen an old-ass prison that's been closed for at least as long as that Clint Eastwood/Dirty Harry movie from the 80s. We are so screwed...

Yeah, that was the thing that held me up. I get samosas (well, "sambusa" is how they spell it) from the Ethiopian restaurant near me, so I figured that a few different cultures might have claim to the original.
comment in response to post
Umm, are chicken tikka and samosas particularly Muslim dishes anyway? Maybe I'm just being ignorant, but they're from Indian cuisine and more likely to be Hindu-adjacent anyway, right?
comment in response to post
What if they actually just forget to do that and then incidentally start sending even more classified materials to a regular ole citizen? That's absolutely a thing that these dumbasses would do...
comment in response to post
Yeah, good, that's pretty much exactly what the first amendment was written for!

I mean, she's not entirely wrong, but "monumental and historic" doesn't mean "good". When the atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, I'm sure Japan considered that "monumental and historic" and also "tragic" and "devastating". I'd still consider the civil war more historic, though.

Wow, that is sooo many questions! Good job, Senator. /s

Literally the opposite of what a "good deal" is.

Weird that adults with functioning brains need to be told this, but I guess that's just where we're at now.

That's definitely not true.
