I was talking with my mother about this the other day. I think this is her lane. We all have our part to play.

This. Throw every single obscure point in Robert's Rules of Order on the table. Channel your inner Hermes.

The illusion is fading for a growing number of folks too.
It's starting to directly affect folks, particularly rural folks.
Turbulent times ahead.

Like Katherine Johnson, I'm from #WestVirginia. In WV, we take history seriously. We even have a contest for it in 8th grade.
I won that contest in 1998.
I never learned about her until I was an adult. Or Carter Woodson. Or Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Or Bill Withers.
I didn't learn WV History.

It makes perfect sense too considering how much the US auto industry is entangled with Canadian manufacturing.

I haven't been out today, but I live in #WestVirginia.
I GUARANTEE people are out there panic buying all the things.

I saw it once as a kid in the 90s. (Kinda a middle class Appalachian rite of passage, amirite?)
I had the same read. Cringey old South, but nothing truly vile.
I'd rather walk barefoot over a bed of Lego than see a dinner show though, so don't expect a review from me anytime soon.

My mama taught me from when I was little that when we learn better, we do better. Glad she read Maya Angelou.
I do see in Dolly someone who is constantly learning and doing better.
Here's Dolly in her own words on why she made the change.

Not sure how or when the transition happened, but before Dollywood was Dollywood (and before Dolly owned it), it was called Rebel Railroad.
Here's an article on it.

She did have a Civil War themed dinner show she removed Confederate/Dixie imagery from in 2018.

But also, not everyone is a lawyer or in education. Most people aren't.
We are talking to everyday people who are struggling. Talk to them, not to people who are worried about sounding dumb.

IDEA. Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility.
Let them be anti-IDEA.

Because governors have to talk to actual people. Every day.

That's not where the focus is right now.
I think a lot of us just want the Constitution to survive, and that can only happen if those who represent us do so vigorously.

Yup.
It gets easier and harder as you go.
The oldest will be in 9th next year. Not sure how that will all go, but we'll see!

We had to enroll in a formal online class. He will only write when forced to with outside pressure.
