Nepal 115/5 (19.3) beat UAE 114/7 (20.0) by 5 wickets with 3 balls to spare, and book their place in the global qualifier alongside Thailand. #NEPvUAE icc-cricket.com/matches/2594...

Absolutely. Still be a long shot, and even more so if Taylor and Campbelle are injured. They've only won two matches against England on home soil in their entire history (an ODI at Shireoaks in 1979, and a T20I at Arundel in 2012). A clean sweep for England is almost certain.

Yes, West Indies pretty much never win in England even at their strongest, and they're far from that at the moment. Realistically, their only hope is if Matthews can have the same sort of game she had against Australia at North Sydney in one of the T20s.

Bella Armstrong's 154* leads Dragons to a 7 wicket win against Scorchers. Armstrong now has two of the six highest scores of all time in women's List A run chases. cricketireland.ie/matches/?tab...

A comfortable warm-up win for West Indies, though one that leaves them with injury concerns ahead of the 1st T20I. ECB Development XI finish 95/7 (20.0). Stubbs 35 (31) Miles 15* (20) Ramharack 2-11 Fletcher 2-18 WI win by 80 runs. #ENGvWI live.nvplay.com/ecb?tab=m_su...

Have been informed the scorecard is correct, and both payers retired hurt - Campbelle abdominal, and Taylor hamstring. Hopefully just being extra cautious on the eve of the series, because if West Indies looked a one-woman show before, they'll be even more so now. #ENGvWI bsky.app/profile/hypo...

The scorecard also lists both Campbelle & Taylor as retired due to injury, but hopefully that's not the case for an already injury hit squad. #ENGvWI

All these stories and more can be found ... nowhere in particular at the moment, as the history of West Indies women's cricket is very patchily told and information is often very thin on the ground. Desperately needs more work to get a fuller picture.

The batter on the right is Ann Browne-John, who served as West Indies women's lead selector from 2019-24. In the pictured game, Browne-John batted for the full 60 overs against Australia, which remains the longest innings batted by a West Indian woman in an ODI (169 balls, 213 minutes).

Sadly, after this historic tour, West Indies women wouldn't play another official match in any format for 14 years. They returned to action at the 1993 World Cup. This photo is from their group stage match against Australia at Tunbridge Wells in 1993.

1979 was the first visit to England for the recently formed West Indies women's team. Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago had previously competed as separate nations at 1973 World Cup. West Indies played 3xTest and 3xODIs in 1979, and secured a first win against England in the 3rd ODI at Shireoaks.

Mary Taylor's figures of 4-0-26-4 are worthy of note in the context of games at Beckenham this season, which have seen some of the most favourable batting conditions in the history of English women's cricket.

Highest match aggregate in women's T20 cricket: 490 Argentina v Chile at Buenos Aires, 2023 438 UP Warriorz v RCB at Lucknow, 2025 425 Australia v West Indies at North Sydney, 2023 417 Surrey v Hampshire at Beckenham, today

The match aggregate of 417 runs at Beckenham today was a new record for a women's T20 played in England. That follows the tie between Surrey and The Blaze at Beckenham on Wednesday, which was the English women's record for a List A match (692).
