I got home at half-time last night, checked the score on my phone and just thought “Nah, I’m not even going to bother.” (Admittedly, it’s to do with my own mental health at the moment. My therapist tells me to focus things which bring me joy. The Saints don’t do that at the moment, unfortunately.)

To be fair to him, that one reads pretty heavily to me as sarcasm. But I’ve seen plenty of similar takes offered sincerely over the years.

That episode also has my favourite visual gag.

I think the leaking started long before now.

Unfortunately, FAA cutbacks meant the airplane crashed on the way to Patel’s mouth. There were no survivors.

I maintain someone is going to try to take a pop at her once she inevitably fails to measure up to a fantasy version of her they’ve created in their head.

The way he wrote Geordi in his Star Trek books only underscored what skimpy material LeVar Burton was usually given on the show. His X-Factor was filled with disregarded D-list mutants, only for David to unlock them. This page from X-Factor 87 completely changed how everyone looked at Quicksilver.

Peter David single-handedly made Jamie Madrox my all-time favourite X-character. He had the obvious in hindsight take on the character that just made you think “Oh. Of course.”

If the writer genuinely believes what they’ve written (which I generously give a 50/50 chance to) then I’ve got several apartment buildings in Box Hill to sell them.

“He likes podcasts, but instead of listening to them…” I put it to you that this person does not, in fact, like podcasts.

I think about that boy every so often. We were never friends, but he was a nice enough guy. I hope he’s now okay.

A friend ten years my junior expressed surprise that my high school year level had no “out” gay kids. Looking back, they were there, and at least one boy was obviously so. But no-one ever proclaimed themselves. The climate simply wasn’t there for it.

The best I can say about myself in that era was I never held the visceral hate for queer people so many others did. Doesn’t mean they weren’t a subject of jokes or a target of mockery and I look back on being a part of that with all the shame appropriate.

Yeah. Their glory days were at the beginning, when they had variety and titles only they carried. Then that went slowly by the wayside and they became just another (overpriced) store stocking everything you could get cheaper elsewhere.

Borders would get overseas magazines in express delivery as well. I think I was buying 4-5 magazines a month from there at its peak.

Until the last few words of the paragraph, I did think he was going to do something else with the rope.
