Enoch Powell in the ‘rivers of blood’ speech: ‘But while, to the immigrant, entry to this country was admission to privileges and opportunities, the impact upon the existing population was very different. For they found themselves made strangers in their own country.’

The benchmark for a negative impact is not that our partners cut all ties & cease discussions, it's that the relationship is adversely impacted. Trump sought to divide us & achieve wins one by one, Starmer obliged, caved first & agreed to slash import tariffs while accepting their increased tarifs

With respect, you mis my point, the key principle is because of Trumps actions and our capitulation we are worse off Vs pre Trump and the US is better off, it validates his approach, i wouldn't expect our allies to comment at all, not least within hours, but assume human nature to guess they are ok

Starmer validated Trumps approach and gave him a big win, he now sees us as weak & will come back for more when he next needs a win, bullies always do. Our EU/Common Wealth allies will see this as weakening their position & this will reflect in our relationship, all in all he gave a huge amount

Now that Trump can sell a clear tangible win for his approach, at our expense, and as a bully, do you think he'll leave it at this or come back for more when he next needs a win? Also how do you think our allies in the EU/common wealth will perceive this & how will that impact that relationship?

Siding with our allies in the EU and commonwealth to force long term returns to norms for short term pain, this reinforces Trumps approach & alienates us with our allies. Trump now sees us as weak, he will come back for more, bullies always do, this is short term gain for long term pain

Strategically It was a short term action, by validating Trumps approach & position we reinforce this as the new status quo, Trump will see this as weakness and keep coming back for more anytime he needs a win, bullies always do. It also principly places us with Trump over other partners impacted

Why isn't Poland and Tusk committing to provide peacekeeping troops in Ukraine alongside France and the UK? It doesn't make sense

Insightful and informative as always! Terrifying content, though, haha 😄
