I don't think he expected to win in 2016; he ran because he loved the rallies and the popularity, but he never thought he stood a chance of winning. After that, he realised he could use the office to commit crimes and stay out of prison. At no point has he had a serious interest in governing.

I mean, that is all true. Also, while everyone is analysing the speech, we've stopped condemning the actual legislation. It's not just that what he said was shitty, the legislation is shitty. They're a shitty government.
