but how do y'all feel about Pink Flamingos?

We all missed out by not being members of Madness. They were truly one step beyond.

DS2 is the one you're most out of luck on because you can be invaded while hollow. Unlike the rest of the games it's the one I'd say "oh yeah maybe play offline."
However, I don't find invasions in the early to mid game that common on Playstation. It's taken me hours to get invaded, more than once.

Of you ever want to try the other games don't be afraid to @ me and I can give some tips about managing the online experience to avoid the aspects you don't like!
Which includes going offline potentially, but for just select parts. :)

hell yes!

(this is specific to DS1, I would have to modify this slightly for other souls games)

because that was indicative of an impending invasion.
So just die after kindling a bonfire on purpose to stop invasions, or watch for impending invasions and quit/ go offline for a moment when necessary.

You can't be invaded if you're hollow or in an area where the boss is already defeated. Or you can also equip a multiplayer item like the white sign soapstone and keep an eye on it in your HUD.
If it greys out in an area where it was previously usable, quit out and reload offline for a few mins...

This is the same person who made the seamless co-op mods for Elden Ring, DS1 and DS3, and I believe they're working on one for DS2 still as well.
Legendary.

Er I may be mistaken, it might've only been public for a few hours now, but they had this demonstration up on YouTube that long ago. So cool.

That would be cool!

Oh nooooo, lol.
I'd appreciate the naive but well-intentioned support, but like, lmao.

Honestly with that kind of mindset I do think you're in a much better position to enjoy solo Nightreign than the average person.

Oh I hear that.
I'd understand some reluctance in including PC for crossplay, but *at the very least*, there should be console crossplay.
So far I just have it on PC but I'll get it on PS5 too. Let me know if you get it on one of those, I'd be down to play sometime!

Yeah I don't think I'd want to voice chat with most randoms, but I do understand the frustrations that stem from not being able to communicate easily, which is VERY important in this game imo. Sort of a damned if you, damned if you don't situation.

On the technical/ performance side of things, I was occasionally experiencing MAJOR hitches.
Like the framerate is mostly decent, but then the game would freeze entirely for a literal 3 full seconds or so. That's not something I've ever experienced in another souls game, so that's concerning.

But playing with friends you enjoy hanging out with, who also enjoy playing the souls games though? Who don't mind getting their asses kicked every now and then?
There's an experience here that's incredibly charming, silly, and fun.

Not saying some people won't enjoy the solo experience, but like, I would NOT assume that most souls fans would dig that.
Some people are reporting positive experiences playing with randoms just fine, but I honestly don't think I'll enjoy that much either.

Yeah it felt smoother for a while, but then the more we played, the more I ran into major hitches. We're not talking normal framerate drops, but I'd have literal ~3+ second long hangups where it seemed like it was entirely frozen. 💀
That's not something I've experienced in other Souls games before.

Also, I think people aren't thinking creatively enough if they solely think cuck chair when they see a chair in a bedroom. Any chair is a potential cuck chair if you put your mind to it!
Lawn chair? That's a cuck chair.
Drum stool? Also a cuck chair.

It's an interesting problem. I feel like the framerate is more stable overall when those major hitches aren't happening (I could be wrong about this but it feels that way), but those major hitches are brutal.

We're playing on PC now, but I'll be getting it on PS5 as well.

Yeah I'm curious to see if it's exclusive exclusive or timed exclusive. Probably the former, but there's a sliver of hope for the latter.

By the way if you don't already follow @apathetic.bsky.social I'm quickly realizing how freakishly talented they are at finding weird stuff in the souls games.
Stuff that sometimes even makes me and @kingborehaha.bsky.social go "what??".

Exactly. I enjoyed the network test and will probably enjoy the game, but I also completely get people not liking it and can totally vibe with them bouncing off of it hard, too.

Huh, that's wild. There wasn't any way to darksign/ warp out of the problem?
