If you want to keep slug/snails away, plant alliums (green onions, chives, garlic, onions).

Remember, no regime has been able to withstand resistance by 3.5% of the population! No justice, no peace!

With respect, Michael Pollan’s take is pretty elitist. It is expensive, time-consuming, and requires a certain privileged access to eat organic, snout to tail, seasonal, freshly prepared meals. Calling everyday products “food like” is incredibly patronizing. No dietitian would do that.

You simply MUST!

Not to mention, OP’s comment lacks all context—there’s no acknowledgement that “ultra-processed” foods may make up anywhere from a small to large percentage of a person’s overall diet.

You want to understand the story of Esther? It’s “Rudy,” getting one tackle during an actual game. It’s the scrawny kid landing one punch before the bully kicks his ass. “They tried to kill us, we survived, let’s eat.” If you don’t understand that, then don’t write about us.

You want to “relativize” the importance of one holiday to make some grand statement about a religion you don’t belong to without acknowledging the millennia of oppression & suffering we experienced? That’s either back communication, lack of insight, or both.

Then you fundamentally do not understand Purim or Jewish tradition. We aren’t celebrating violence; we are celebrating that, for once, we don’t die or suffer at the end of the story.

OP does not understand the story of Esther. In the end, Haman is hanged instead of Mordechai, and the Jewish population is allowed to fight back against those who try to kill them.

The Episcopal Church made the morally correct decision, but one they should never have had to make.
