I am so going to laugh my ass off when it emerges that the military has used this parade as cover to stage a coup against the TACO Dictator and he and his regime are kicked out of office.

I think these "oh, I didn't read the bill and never would have voted for it with this in it" proclamations are just bs. When it comes back to the House with these provisions in, they'll cute6 for it again.

The White House, with it's gaudy gold glitter, looks like a two bit whore house. For all intents and purposes, it acts like one too

This is such a shit thing to do. Require somebody to follow the legal process to come and check-in so you can dismiss their case so that they are immediately undocumented so you can arrest and deport them. What shit people.

Hey Zeus you are correct. And he's not qualified to hold that top job. And he was head of trump's security during the years he wasn't president. Ladies and Gentlemen, the man who played a central part in the conspiracy of trump's assassination attempt. Now find the makeup artist in the scrum.

While I'm not a scientist, I am a US citizen who lives overseas. Even I won't travel to the US now. There is no way I would submit myself to ICE/CBP in this day and age.

The racism in the US actually astounds me, and one side of my family is from the rural south. Sad, actually

Obviously, you're much better placed to know the timing and impact of legislation on public health issues than I am. But 18 months is a looong time to keep their heads down. They are continually weighing their odds, the sole goal being keeping power.
Thanks for the conversation.

I agree that elected Repubs want this. But they're ignoring their town halls, so they want this over the objections of their electorate. It's a ? of where they feel they'll get their power. If they don't have to worry about elections, 🤷🏽, but if it's a choice between staying the course or losing 🤷🏽

Given the number of low information voters, with the vast majority of those in Red States, Republicans are being elected just because they're Republicans. Think you need to overlay literacy rates and overall education rates. We're now getting, "I voted for him, but didn't think he'd do X to me."

Ah ... But "they don't care" and "they want this" are two different things.
Painting with a broad brush "All Americans" is dangerous. There's a percentage (small) who want this; a percentage (large) who either don't understand or aren't paying attention; and a percentages going OMG!

You must be a yoga instructor the way you bend yourself to try and substantiate things you're wrong on. The fact it was the page before the one you posted shows how completely full of shit you are. Your timeline backs it up.

Not caught up. My experience spending 5th and 6th grade in rural Virginia as a 5th and 6th grader helping kids with remedial math and reading concur with your experience. But when you're that off with the 79%, then you're really cheapening the message

numbers don't add up. 262 million adults in the US (2023). 1 in 5 (20% or 52 million) read below a 3rd grade level, yet 45 million read below a 5th grade level and are functionally illiterate; 130 million (50%) have trouble reading a story, yet 79% (200 million) can reason and deduce.

The problem/difficulty with this is that it wouldn't surprise me if affected groups blame "da gubermint" and not "duh Republicans." This is the way the Republicans get to, each cycle, scream: "Gubermints not working!"
How did we get to be so dumb🤦

Unfortunately, he is. Two republicans didn't vote at all. Two voted present, and two voted against. Had there been 3 more Dem votes, there would've been 3 more Republican votes
