If there's a bar, my go-to is a soda water with a dash of bitters.

With all due respect to Hegseth and Rubio, this man is far and away the most dangerous member of Trump's cabinet.

American usage of "liberal" is different from UK/Europe. For years, it meant left-wing, because they were terrified of the word "socialist". Now it's become almost meaningless.

Both AOC and Sanders are much more accomplished politicians than Corbyn.

I think this is a key to much of Trump's behaviour. And a frightening number of people are willing to play along.

Yeah, Marge. He wasn't supposed to lie to *you*, was he? Just to the rest of us.

Churchill also used the army against British citizens (Welsh miners).

Surely there is a tipping point--perhaps when around 40-50% of everything is high-vis--where it becomes easier to find the one or two black or grey items in the room.

"I can't believe I have to work through this!" Why the hell wouldn't you? Is your house being bombed? Is your kid's school closed? Are you or someone you know being called up? No. There's something on the news that upsets you and will have downstream effects. That's just life. Go the fuck to work.

You'd be amazed (or maybe not) by the number of staunch Unionists who have Irish passports in their back pockets.

Nobody who has watched what is happening in Ukraine is going to give up a nuclear program. Nobody.

As my mother used to say: Sorry means you won't do it again.

Poor pup. But lucky to have such love and care at the end of her life.

Is this supposed to make me feel better? Because it doesn't make me feel better.

Apart from anything else, no-one is going to give up on nuclear weapons after seeing what happened to Ukraine. No-one.

In 2015, the Scots were told that staying in the UK was the only way to stay in the EU. We were promised increased devolution too, which never happened. Don't have to be a nationalist to be angry.

Reform went from zero to about 26%. They bid fair to replace the Tories in Scotland and could have a presence in the Scottish Parliament next time around. It's not a colossal triumph for Farage, but there's no point ignoring it.

The thing about "larger than life" types like Trump and Musk is that they are, in the end, deeply boring.
comment in response to post
It's not that Trump can't be bought. It's that he doesn't stay bought.

But if they were any darker, you'd look like Scotland.
