@rantyhighwayman.bsky.social There are about 8500 petrol stations in the UK it seems. Assume they are each ~ 50 metres by 50 metres. About 2100 hectatres that could be used for other things when petrol vehicles become rare with that back of the envelope calculation.

Jupiter is 7.3 metres wide and 40 km from the Sun. Neptune is 2.5 metres wide and 229 km from the Sun

@rantyhighwayman.bsky.social Uh, that minor issue of climate disruption? Antarctica's ice melting? Yeah, that is making the continent lighter, and rebound from the asthenosphere (mantle). There are volcanoes, a lot of them, and that rebound makes continents more volcanic. Enjoy yet another worry.
