I hope for a happy ending to this story but man, it seems like we all lost in the Doug Fir transition. I understand it came down to walking away from a landlord over the lease renewal, must have been egregious terms to just pick up from Burnside like that. www.portlandmercury.com/music/2025/0...

For those who say “Illegal is illegal.” On this Juneteenth, remember: slavery was once legal. Harboring a fugitive enslaved person? Illegal. Black freedom? Illegal. “Illegal is illegal” has always been used to defend injustice. Legality ≠ morality. Justice calls us higher.

If they’re going to charge municipal officials with assault for requesting to see a warrant, I don’t see the benefit of ensuring all anti-ICE actions are orderly or “peaceful.” You can be an elected official calmly invoking procedural norms, they don’t care.
