Arcade games, lock picking, speed cubing, movie reviews, I'm "a little better than average" at a lot of dumb stuff.
Love to hate my least favorite sports teams. I watched the Simpsons when it originally aired

I miss y'all's podcast. :-(
You personally had some of the realest podcasting I'd heard in a long time, I hope you are doing okay.

My only gripe with Wendy's is their desire to put mayo on so many things, but the app makes it easy to customize.

Shout out to the Wendy's app, which works really well and is easy to use.

There was a third in context, but I'd be giving away too much identifiable information to specify it. :-) Same ballpark as check fraud though.

Yeah... I was once asked by a friend to help renew their driver's license by buying a money order, putting their address on it, and handing it to the DMV guy like I was Western Union.
Response: "I'm only in my fall semester of my 1L year but that's like three big boy crimes."

It's great for my 10-20 person board gaming group, and my other one for my sci-fi club (strong overlap yes). The crooked media one is just too much (honestly that's like a whole platform to itself) but I'm betting there's another local machine l maxima around 100-150 people for larger group activity

I spent years and years doing software testing, where I was frequently asked to demonstrate that hidden parts of the system worked.
Consider: if all you had was an odometer and a gas gauge, how could you measure the effect of running the AC on gas mileage?

Warning: binging on them is delicious and fun, but the crash afterwards can be BRUTAL.

Came here to say this. :-)
I used to work in epidemiology (not a scientist, but worked with a bunch) and this is a teachable moment about how to count things.
Now you've got me wanting to buy a Costco 18 pack of Kraft M&C and spend the weekend trying to calculate how many noodles are in a box. β€οΈ

Improvements in productivity are always worth looking for (even though I suspect he just means AI and robotics) but those really won't postpone the "day of bankruptcy."
Paying our taxes would.

I've never called my Congress critter before (rep Jayapal's votes are pretty much always predictable) but this was a great reason to call- this is something my rep can meaningfully do other than just vote on something.
Thanks!

It looks like CREW requested that Amy Gleeson sit for deposition (where you answer questions on the record), and a court ordered her to do so.
The Supreme Court put a stay on that order, effectively pausing it while they mull it over.
In other words, Gleeson will not have to answer questions yet

CREW (www.citizensforethics.org) has a lawsuit trying to block the doge firings of lots of federal workers. As part of a lawsuit, parties get to conduct "discovery," where they can compel the other party (doge) to provide information necessary for preparing for a trial. 1/

Cheeto is bossy but the snuggliest kitty ever. Knows she's a cat.
Beach is brainless and loves Gravy. She's surprised by everything all the time.
Gravy is cool as hell. He's seen rough times but knows he's in the right place (polydactyl! Mittens!). Believes himself to be a person.

And Trump's order was in January, this guy lost access to his email in the last week, which is much more closely timed with Khan stepping down while he's investigated.
I don't have a dog in this fight over one man's access to an email account, so I'll probably refrain from further comment.
comment in response to
post
So it looks like Microsoft may have cut off this guy's access to a private email account but I'm not sure why- if that was due to pressure from the Trump administration (implied in the PBS article) or because of the misconduct investigation?
It looks like the rest of the ICC has access to email...

2/ (pause) okay, so I read the pbs a article here: www.pbs.org/newshour/wor...
And this looks more suspicious. Yes, Karim Khan has been under investigation for sexual harassment since last year.
But it seems that Microsoft cut off his email address quite recently. Was he on Hotmail?
comment in response to
post
Because everyone up thread was excited about believing the worst without even looking for a citation or a source.
Assuming the guy is locked out of his email (again, I've only got one unsourced tweet saying this), there are multiple ways to understand that. (1/2)
comment in response to
post
That may be what's happening here. The only information about Microsoft's conduct here is an unsourced tweet using a verb "disabled" that could mean anything.
That word is fully compatible with "this guy cannot log in but his emails are still on the ICC's servers."

Best guess is he's making things up, second best is he's looking at oil futures like you can order a barrel of oil and get 20 gallons of gas delivered later.

Is it also possible that the ICC prosecutor's email was shut off because he's on leave, under accusations of sexual misconduct?
