Congrats! If you have an hour to spare, watch this fascinating video of what might be happening within your wall. I found it to be very well made, funny and I somehow felt extremely zen afterwards. www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7S0...

This on the eve of the 80th anniversary of VE Day is especially shameful

Same scenario in the Netherlands.

The same is happening in the Netherlands. The right-wing party of Geert Wilders, the largest party in the coalition since 2023, is losing steadily in the polls. Centre-left and left-wing parties are gaining and would win if elections were held today.

I'm an European and I concur. Every day, hour, minute it's a bombardment of just too much everything, everywhere, in a state of persistent shock. Gobsmacked and - having strong ties to the US on a personal level - heartbroken. I try but can't imagine what it must be like for you.

There's always next year! Keep on fighting! (let me also add that I really feel for what you are going through, I have a long bond with the US, have family living there and I'm devastated to what is happening)

As the article notes, it will happen. I keep reminding friends that it's fairly easy for a population to impress their dissatisfaction with their government in an European country. The US is a continental country, the distance to travel to the capital enormous. Not like Istanbul with 16M or Berlin.

I know but April 19th was right there. This historical date makes slogans like "Fight the tyranny!" & "No Kings!" extra powerful.
comment in response to post
πŸ˜€ Yes, I do know that. But April 19th is the day the United States became an independent nation. Boggles the mind this date is not celebrated.

European here 🀚 I can't believe there are no major protests planned on Saturday April 19, the start date of the American revolution. Symbolism can be such a powerful force.

The French Air Force did a little 🫣 and practiced landing on ice runways in Greenland 04/03. The purpose was to certify the aircraft Airbus A400M for landing on ice runways. A πŸ‡«πŸ‡·πŸ€πŸ‡©πŸ‡° collaboration initiated in '24 but I wonder if the πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ tried to block it. www.armyrecognition.com/focus-analys...

Having said this, where indeed is a Women's March caliber protest? We'll see on March 5, supposedly large protests expected. But as an European I'm dumbfounded they are not using Sat April 19 for a large protest as it's the start date of the American revolution. Symbolism can be a powerful force.

One aspect that IMO needs to be taken into account is that it's fairly easy for a population to impress their dissatisfaction to their government in an European country. The US is a continental country, the distance to travel to the capital enormous. Not like Istanbul with 16M or Berlin.
