My husband and I were talking about the unexpected behaviour & sounds of the crows at Yellowstone yesterday. A man turned around and said “they're blackbirds and we’re from the crow tribe so we know”. We did end up having a lovely chat and it turns out we know nothing about North American birds.

As a tourist in the US I had a really interesting chat with an elderly woman who urged us to visit the Heart Mountain museum where the Japanese camps were. I replied “especially now” & she visibly relaxed. I'd understood & it was her way of protesting. www.codyyellowstone.org/activities/h...
