And I'm here for it! NGL, I heard the voice.

Generative AI as a nascent technology is very interesting, exciting, and fraught with danger. It is a tool in search of a problem, and is not ready for real world use. Now that AI has been taken over as a marketing term, it has become truly evil. Like all sales marketing.

The first one is great, but now you are just stealing. 😂

The quality of the Mexican food in a given state is a function of the population of Mexican women over the age of 70 living in that state.

I suppose they could have been. All I know is that I haven't been able to go to any of those kinds of site without being challenged for identity based age verification for almost two year at least. Occasionally I forget to use the VPN.

"Can now start enforcing"? You mean "Can still enforce". Those law have existed and been enforced in multiple states already.

She looked so proud when she got the job, and shocked when she wasn't generally loved for it. She is doing whatever makes her feel good about herself, not ever actual good.

Yeah, not much can survive intact when it becomes so profitable that "capital investors" are interested. It's almost like whenever money is the main concern, big success leads to an incremental but complete failure.

It is funny how industries like games or movies will spend a lot of energy trying to figure out what people want, but ignore the small indie successes that easily answer their questions.
comment in response to post
I have definitely seen this happen with games I like. In at least one case the devs listened and started a deshitification process. I'll hold out hope that this can and will still happen post shitification. (My spellcheck didn't like deshitification, but did like shitification. )

The industry can do what it likes, and I'll keep playing new games as long as I can. But if they want to tank it all, I have more than 4TB of DRM free offline installers for games that do not require the internet to activate or play.

At least if the prayers aren't answered they'll know it was god's plan to kill them.

I had to look up who that was to understand what this meant. :)

If we stick with the popular Hitler/Nazi Germany comparison, we are not looking at 1939 with capable generals and a not-yet-insane leader. We are looking at the Hitler from the movie Downfall surrounded by sycophants afraid to point out that those armies don't exist anymore.

It already does, but they are all so much more afraid of the secular world that they will continue to vote against their best interests to spite areligious people. A magical world view that intentionally ignores reality so one can feel better about oneself will do that to a person.

Yep. The plan for decades has been to sell oppression by religions as exercises of religious freedom. It has been slowly built up over time, and allowed to happen because most people here are of some religious stripe and are ok with it when the oppression appears to benefit them.

It is hard to be happy with little scraps, when the meat and potatoes are going to the most evil people in the country.

MAGA: The dems will create Sharia law in the US and turn us into Iran! Trump SCOTUS: Creates a Christian version of Sharia law and turns us into Iran. MAGA: Yes! This is what I voted for!

I know someone who believes dinosaur bones were a test by god, where they were created in the ground as The Appearance of Age (caps were in his voice when he said it). Then another person I know believes that dinosaurs were on the first Earth and that we are on Earth 2. All from the same book.

It's like insisting on walking because bad guys discovered bicycles and you don't want to seem like a bad guy. It's not the bicycle that's immoral, it's how it is used that makes the difference.

If you look at the split in Louisiana, you'd think there was a Dem majority. That's because the racists Dems never changed their registration after the Dixiecrats swapped to the GoP in the 50s. Most old white Southern Dem politicians have always been old school GoP at heart.

Think I'd feel the same. Your direct campaign pressure is off, so now you can help do the good work without the constant hounding that you'd get as a candidate or as mayor.
