Iran should worry about Iran. They don't have electricity for their schools and malls. How could they even help Lebanon? Lebanon should continue to turn towards the US and Europe for help in rebuilding and disarming all non-state actors.

In June 2024, the IDF explicitly said that it would not target journalists, even if they were affiliated with Hamas, unless they were also combatants (in line with IHL). www.idf.il/en/mini-site...
It came in response to The Guardian reporting otherwise: www.theguardian.com/world/articl...

As history tells us, white people notoriously always got along with each other and never did anything bad to each other because they were all just so happy to be white together.

If you read that headline with an upbeat lilt in your voice and end the sentence with an exclamation point, you'll start to get how things work now.

Not to mention that Trump wants oil prices to stay low, whereas KSA won't break even in public expenditures if oil stays at current levels.

The US is making promises about getting aid into Gaza, and it seems that they are moving ahead on that front. The aid is very important, and also getting it restarted takes away that point of leverage from Israel.

At the moment, as much as I am 100% against a long-term Israeli occupation, I think reintroducing aid under almost any system would be better than zero aid. But the whole thing is a mess. We may only be in the middle of the Gaza war, as much as I wish it had ended a year ago (or never begun).

Trump is definitely going to ask him how to get a Noble. Also, if Trump can resolve the Gaza situation in a way that prevents a long-term IDF occupation and allows for aid and rehabilitation of Gaza, and gets the remaining hostages back - I would personally nominate him for a Noble Peace Prize.

This article raises interesting points on the apparent Israeli campaign to suggest an "alternative" vision to the rule of al-Sharaa. It was very careful to conclude that this decentralized model would lead to renewed warfare. Ironically, it may have pushed al-Sharaa to the table for indirect talks.

Wow. That's got to be one of the nerdiest reasons to go to prison. Imagine having to explain to your cellmate that you're not there for murder or anything, just a huge ant collection.

In 1968, Israel raided the Lebanese airport causing millions of dollars of damage. Charles de Gaulle was so angry that he cut of diplomatic ties and immediately enacted an arms embargo against Israel.
Targeting civilian airports is generally a bad idea.

Important to note that they have very good siren systems in Kyiv, so those deaths are despite the fact that the population was mostly underground or inside buildings with some sort of protected spaces. The attack was huge.

Horrible. And yes, unfortunately, we have reached the point where comparing with the Nazis is actually legitimate. That's so fucked up.

Well, actually they are number 4 on this list. So maybe I'm just wrong. Won't be the first time.

terrible. So sad. I don't mind war if it is absolutely the last option. But the cynical choice to restart the war is absolutely unacceptable.

Still overvalued. Reuters explains that investors have been told by Elon that they aren't investing in an EV business.
They think they're investing in robots, AI, and self-driving robotaxis.
But all revenue is from the electric cars.
The stock is based on lies. www.reuters.com/business/aut...

Europeans might see it as a boost if these institutions end up losing talent to Europe.

I would say unbelievable, but the worst is believable these days. Sorry to hear that. I don't know what percentage of your operations are from federal grants, but it doesn't sound good.

I say this as someone who is concerned about real violence and intimidation that have occasionally occurred targeting Jewish students at campuses. But we have to distinguish between people who say a few words we don't agree with and people who perhaps say/do things that make Jews feel threatened.

When he says "Tariff related money.. pouring in" he's talking about taxes, right? Because pouring taxes into the US government coffers is quite different than money going to people's bank accounts.

Unfortunately she has made a career out of spreading islamophobia to a willing audience. Her experiences in the Lebanese Civil War may have affected her views, but still, it's grifting at a time when Syria needs honesty, support, and for people to just stop screaming about things that don't exist.

Still way overvalued. It's price/earnings ratio is way out of line with the rest of the market.
