Yes; I also think that the narrative being pushed by large tech execs is not helpful. The attempt to sell AI as the ANSWER TO EVERYTHING means it's hard to have productive conversation about the places where AI can really make a difference whilst acknowledging that for some tasks it kinda sucks

hey! Just wanted to say this is really cool to see being used - I'm the TL of the Performance tools in DevTools - and it's been fun seeing you use the tooling as you build out the game. Thanks for sharing :)

My positive spin on it is maybe browser primitives become more popular because of how stable they are...but I think your take is sadly more likely!

Small API, few to no breaking changes, loads of examples and documentation.

Although I guess we'd also expect AIs to get better at working with a few examples to quickly build up more context and understanding. But still, that's extra work for the person using it.

Good luck! I had to swap to Keynote for Perf Now because the amount of video and GIFs would reliably crash Slides. That was not a fun few hours of rebuilding 120+ slides 😭

Lots of developers get annoyed if their libraries don't change rapidly over time but the fact that web components look the same now as they did 2 (and more) years ago is a huge positive

Omg I didn't know about empathic and I've needed this for years! Most of these functions I've written myself but less efficiently about a million times in various scripts or side projects 😁

Ah this was on my shortlist! TY

Yeah! I don't have keys on any of my keyboards if possible, although on a laptop keyboard it might not be a smart decision 😂

Oh no I hope you've got it now!

I'll definitely be blogging once it's up and running and I've had a chance to use it 🙂

It's the Framework 13 7040 series, with the higher spec AMD CPU, 32gb of ram. Plenty for side projects and hacking!

This is interesting to me as you're a fellow Vim user. So you don't have any deep editor integration and just use a chat interface in browser etc ?

Agreed! Have you written much about your workflow changes? AI is definitely integrating into mine but I've not found the natural rhythm just yet

I think some people hear the promises of what AI can do with some skepticism and I can kinda relate...but I agree that "grift" is a little strong

Good question! I am writing a blog post with some reflections in it 😁
