“In the U.S., the company sold fewer than 40,000 Cybertrucks in 2024—well below Musk’s ultimate goal of 250,000 a year.”

Watching Mountainhead and it pains me how much of the lingo I understand. This film is scarier than Midsommar

Oh my God this is so good

In case you missed it, Edward Coristine, a 19-year-old whose prior experience includes an internship at Neuralink and... that's it... was apparently hired as a GS-15 at the GSA, which puts him at the very top rank of government employees (usually decades of experience). www.wired.com/story/big-ba...

I'm still tweaking my DOGE track site (I pulled out the worst wreckers to their own pages) and now I have a page showing all the positions that are confirmed to be paid dogetrack.info/people/paid-...

On the other hand, think of the premium identity theft monitoring services DOGE is going to be gifting us. Thanks, SCOTUS!

This headline is trash, though. Trump administration races to blame DOGE because Trump administration, of which DOGE is a key part, fired too many people. Subhead: The Washington Post went alone with their charade, allowing the Trump administration to act like DOGE is not them.

“Most transparent agency ever”

BREAKING: SCOTUS conservatives block discovery relating to DOGE as part of a lawsuit over public records requests into the entity. The action was taken over the objections of Justices Sotomayor, Kagan, and Jackson.

New Pulp album is indeed very good, but I do need to ding it for not magically restoring me to the age I was in 2001

People who serve aren’t by default angels or w/e but my personal experience is that the median troop is way less likely to be ok with this stuff than the median cop or DHS guy

"As the car slows to a crawl, and hisses steam and dribbles oil, and warning lights go off, the abashed hound tentatively sticks a finger in one leaking hole, and then another, and then another, wondering what happens next."

First the planes, now the boats 🙄

Well I guess Ireland does have a tradition of beings that take on seemingly human form for nefarious purposes

Censored out of existence

it’s not every day that one of your all time faves releases their first album in a quarter century. even better? it’s GREAT www.rollingstone.com/music/music-...

NYT headline writer deciding between "fracas" and "contretemps" as we speak

Big day for barbs trading

I think about this article all the time

i just spent an hour combing through reddit posts where people are talking about their attempts to communicate with loved ones in prison and man, it is bleak. so many issues with the shitty systems and the shitty phone providers outside. devastating impacts of enshittification.

DOGE staffers are reportedly concerned they might be summarily fired for their jobs just because they might be unfairly maligned… A single exec order could undo them all, but also they aren’t established by statute meaning they aren’t statutorily mandated functions for any agency

I'm actually super fucking mad that the Elon Musk era is gonna end because of narcissist infighting with a former reality TV show host, and not because even a single institution in American life made a serious effort to hold him responsible for a decade plus long crime spree

New: A DOGE staffer developed an AI tool to review Veterans Affairs contracts. But there was a slight hitch. It hallucinated the size of those deals. For example, it concluded that more than a thousand contracts were each worth $34M, when in fact some were for as little as $35,000.

From this reporting, it sounds like the AI process DOGE used to determine which VA contracts were dispensable was total garbage. If I were adjudicating this, it would make a lot of sense to reinstate the entire thing and start over

The weird thing is Elon is still going to get away with stealing a shit ton of government data after all this. (Not to be a downer I am enjoying the cat fight)

The real lesson of the Elon and Trump fight is that no one individual should be allowed to become so powerful their petty feuds have global consequences.

The scandal is not that Trump’s is so long but why the fuck is bush so short

Hear me out, what if we elected politicians whose first instincts weren’t just how they could use the power of the state against anybody they dislike?

It’s the happiest day of Elon Musk’s life because he finally posted something people actually want to read

Me realizing that both Musk and Trump are night owl posters so this is just the pause before things get truly deranged

He looks like somebody Ray Liotta snuffs in Goodfellas

Sorry but I’m not going to X even for this. You, boy! What are the latest shit posts?!

Three men sit in a cell in El Salvador. The first asks the second why he has been imprisoned. He replies, "Because I criticized Elon Musk." The first man responds, "But I am here for praising Musk!" They ask the third man who has been sitting quietly in the back. He answers, "I AM Elon Musk".

I would just like to encourage Elon to keep tweeting through this, no one has ever regretted that strategy.

Might be a lesson here somewhere about outsourcing capacity for key government services to a guy who lives in a lair under a volcano

bsky right now.

The Polish foreign minister, a writer and journalist who covered the Soviet war in Afghanistan in the 1980s, clearly knows a thing or two about a patiently-timed response.
