Whattup #HorrorWritersChat! I’m N.J. Gallegos, ER doc by day, horror author by night. I tend towards medical horror (write what you know, right?) and I find the horror genre oddly comforting especially in the face of true world events. Things could always be worse… I could have a brain parasite.

IT WANTS US ALIVE available now. A postmenopausal hunter's tale of demons and revenge. Gothy, funny, action-packed. Also: there's a falcon and she's relentless. #horrorwriterschat

Hey #HorrorWritersChat I heard you like spooky middle grade stories with Goosebumps and Tim Burton vibes! No? WELL BUY MY BOOK ANYWAY 😆 buy.bookfunnel.com/13ua9jcwqi

#HorrorWritersChat question 4: For those of the ground, it is a season to fear. The time for ease and comfort ends as the shadows grow short. You are revealed with the solstice sunrise. No crack can hide you, no cave is deep enough to shelter from the light. The eye is open, and it sees all sin.

#HorrorWritersChat question 3: I think the "Jacob Marshmallow Ripple" is a fudgy affair with a sort of Neapolitan quality. I like foods with multiple distinct flavors together. But in my heart of hearts I'd rather have "Sanguine Smoke," a sweet cherry concoction with a smoky aftertaste.

Hi #horrorwriterschat! I’m Vanessa. My WIP is a dark pirate fantasy. I also write horror shorts. I like horror and all dark fiction (literature, video games, movies) because I think it’s important to give people a way to work the rough the darker parts of the human experience. And it’s just fun!

Ha! I write wayyyy more in the summer. I HATE hot weather (and it gets HOT here in SC, USA). It makes me cranky. My coping methods include vitamin D supplements, air conditioning, lots of reading, and my most productive writing of the year. I don’t venture out there. 😂 #HorrorWritersChat

#HorrorWritersChat question2: I think my writing rituals changed a lot when I moved. The weather is so temperate here that the seasons blend a bit. I write best in the fall, when it's both cold and wet in equal measure. But where I live now, I can summon up that feeling whenever it's needed.

Hello #HorrorWritersChat it's Yanni of the Hamburger clan. I write random stuff that is pretty dark, but my brain thinks is neat. (yes, I openly try to answer this question different every week lol) Horror raised me and taught me how to read.

#HorrorWritersChat Q1 Hoi! I'm J. Neira, cozy horror author & a strange & unusual hicklib. I slush read for the middle-grade submissions to Graveside Press. I like that the stakes feel more relatable in horror.

#HorrorWritersChat Hi I'm HD Beird, and that's why I must scream 😱 I can tell you for a fact HD stands for Happiness Deprived, and I think it's going around innit? Horror resonates with me because, well, it's honest Humanity's true nature comes to the fore, both good and bad Mostly bad 😑

Hi hi, I'm Eryn, and I mostly write psychological and Gothic horror. Why does horror resonate? It's the inevitability of it. The world is by turns, disappointing and horrifying. We can take that horror and hold it to the light, play in the sandbox with it. #HorrorWritersChat

Hi all! I'm Rebecca Cantrell. I write in a few genres--mystery, thriller, horror. Horror resonates with me because it makes you grapple with fear and then makes you think. Or vice versa. #horrorwriterschat

#HorrorWritersChat question 1: Hello everyone, I'm Jacob Marsh and I write horror and supernatural thrillers. Horror resonates with me because it seems to understand the humor, thrill and beauty present in the macabre. It confronts the duality of life. Acknowledging the grim highlights the good.

A horror novel written by a real-life gay person featuring queer characters! #Bookstagram #queerbooks #queerrepresentation #pridemonth2025 #pridereads #pridebooks #gaybooks #gayreads #horrorbooks

I may have been AWOL for alot of this month so far, but I still haven't forgotten my monthly indie paperback pledge! This month is a story by @writerlcarter.bsky.social I snagged for free on the indie sales, but felt compelled to buy the physical copy too!

Okay, writing sprints finished for the day. Here are the results: 7 total sprints, one was more of a marathon. 5 cups of tea drunk. 9 scenes written. And a grand total of 10153 words of new rough draft. I'm pretty happy with those results! #writingcommunity #horrorauthor #writingsprint

Ok, that last writing session was more of a marathon than a sprint. But I added another 2500 words to my count. One more good sprint and I'll hit 10K. I'm almost at the end of this spooky tunnel! #horrorauthor #writingsprint #writingcommunity

Sprint 5 done and I'm well over 6000 words for the day. 10k is in reach. I'll climb this mountain yet! #horrorauthor #writingcommunity ##writingsprint

Sprint 4 is over. I slowed down a bit to eat lunch but I still got 1100 words done. I'll have to really focus up if I want to hit 10K today! #horrorauthor #writingcommunity #writingsprint

Sprint 3 is over and I've added another 1217 words to the pile. Not my best counts but they're at least consistent. Time for tea number 3 and a few minutes of quiet before I start again. #horrorauthor #writingcommunity #writingsprint

Sprint 2 done. That's another 1148 words of the secret project finished. I'm also nearly done my second tea, maybe another tally to keep track of? Starting again in 5 minutes! #horrorauthor #writingcommunity #writingsprint

I just finished the first writing sprint of the day with just under 1300 words. I plan to do this all day but that's a good foundation to build off of. Time to make another tea and get back to it! #writingsprint #horrorauthor #writingcommunity

#HorrorWritersChat question 3: Great question! I've never written about it before but I love the ominous giant black dog. I think I'd do a Mothman Chronicles style story featuring the black hound terrorizing a small community and moving them inexorably towards some vaguely foretold doom!
