It was so jarring when i got older to see Guinness and Cushing in their mainstay roles after early exposure to SW

I have never been so terrified of flying. Just nothing but goons looking to harass even citizens much less visitors

First they cease and desist you. Then they laugh at you. Then you win.

The segment from some of Conan’s earliest days where he goes to that Texas town that doesn’t air him until like 2 in the morning and he ends up in like a slowly unspooling Hopper painting talking with the nighthawks up that late is burned into my brain

There’s a big stretch of this where Israel falls in with John Paul Jones who behaves and speaks almost exactly like Rik Mayall’s Flasheart from Blackadder. Melville largely parodying his own long winded prose to make Jones sound like the most self-mythologizing idiot alive lmao

I don’t care how stupid it is, “did you say Abe Lincoln?!” has made me laugh for 25 years and counting

Dave just has that animal magnetism. Absolutely no one should be able to get away with all those spoken word interludes (“that suit is YOUUU” still kills me) but he’s like Ric Flair, just permanently in-character

I’m not a Van Hagar hater but I do think that band was at cross purposes pretty much out of the gate, meanwhile Dave did kind of stunt on them immediately snapping up Steve Vai and co to make basically the debut album v2

I sadly allowed myself to be duped into clicking on Threads and before this was shared here it had All the same language and purported to come from a guy who “taught a Harvard course on protest” lmao

Just a total fucking idiot on racist autopilot as his brain goes round and round on a taffy pull. It’s insane that no Dem, even the breakaways who have staked out some decent rhetoric, is willing to at every turn say “this man is a fucking moron. Just a deeply stupid person with a toddler vocab”

Tales of the Jedi is fun but maybe a bit too silly even by my standards of liking when SW goes bozo mode, but so far this is a great mix of goofball adventurism and actual political/combat stakes

so the optics of your protests really don't matter at all, they'll send in soldiers simply as a personnel and staffing matter. go nuts i guess!

If this had come out on Smile in ‘67 it would have been eventually taken as a kind of William Blake vision of the future. And it’s kind of insane it finally did on an album that also contains fucking Student Demonstration Time.
