Sentry mode must be turned on, and it drains the battery. If these are not customer owned cars, or if the cars are in for service, sentry mode is likely turned off to reduce power consumption and extend battery life.

Are you and Musk still buddies? I distinctly recall him staying at your place during the maiden Virgin Galactic flight. Maybe you could ring him with your concerns.

It’s Auschwitz… 🤦🏼‍♂️

If your car burns fossil fuels, you’re supporting atrocities with every gallon of gas bought. Buy an EV from a company that builds millions of fossil fuel burning vehicles, same thing. Rivian supports Bezos, Lucid is owned by Saudi Arabia. Tell me what you drive, I’ll tell you how you’re evil.
comment in response to post
Or maybe judging a person by the car they drive is a dumb thing to do. How about you tell us what you drive, and I’ll tell you how you directly support atrocities.

Your feelings won’t fill our checking accounts. Recognize that most people can’t just shrug off losing tens of thousands of dollars in depreciation. Recognize too that the people you want to realize those losses are environmentally conscious liberals.

How were they duped? Do the cars secretly run on gas? Teslas are better for the environment cradle-to-grave than ICE cars. That hasn’t changed because of Elon Musk.

You’re a parrot.

You care. That’s why you engaged.
comment in response to post
Because you say so? You’re a moron. Btw, I have a Rivian. I keep the Tesla to have something reliable to drive for the months the Rivian is in service.

When I bought the car 4 years ago I was attacked by the right, now I’m attacked by the left. Guess what, it’s the same damn car.

Pay my depreciation and I will. Unless you’re willing to put your money where your mouth is, STFU.

Not just Florida. I’m fairly sure that rule applies to all of the USA.

Even as a joke, this isn’t ok.

Love everything about it except its absentee CEO.

“Hot minute” is not a technical term. We need specifics, Jose!

…nor do I think they exercise the imagination as strongly as picture-less books do. It is important to let the reader create the look of characters, places, things in their own mind. That’s part of the joy of books.

If anything, I feel the pendulum has swung too far in favor of picture books, at least for kids. The book fairs at my daughter’s school are 70-80% picture books. I don’t mind graphic novels and the like, but you won’t learn important writing skills from them like sentence and paragraph structure…

Organized religion is a scam. That doesn’t mean it can’t be immensely profitable and persist for thousands of years.

Musk helped make this happen. Musk has and continues to operate in direct opposition of Tesla’s mission statement.

If you believe that absolute certainty = faith and you believe absolute certainty does not exist then you believe faith does not exist. There are only varying degrees of certainty. We are arguing semantics rather than a substantive difference of philosophy.
comment in response to post
It’s impossible for us to know the future. We can only make predictions based on the past and present. But of course we cannot function in life without behaving as though we know with certainty some aspects of the future. We have faith the sun will rise tomorrow but we cannot know that for a fact.
comment in response to post
Of course you do. We all do. Whether you acknowledge it is optional.
comment in response to post
These arguments are unwinnable because at their core they are based on faith, just like crypto and fiat currency.
comment in response to post
Governments are not so great at protecting the value of their currency, as countless failed governments and economic collapses can attest. Bitcoin is well-established as a global means of exchange at this point. You will likely grow old and die waiting for it to fail.
comment in response to post
It’s easy to send and receive funds via crypto. Is it harder than handing over paper money? Perhaps. But the fact that we’re having this debate via a medium that requires multiple accounts be set up in order for it to occur is proof positive the world is ready for it.
comment in response to post
There is no inherent value in any Fiat currency. It survives on faith, just like crypto.
comment in response to post
I hope they have better luck than Tesla has had in Texas.
comment in response to post
What three primary functions of money does cryptocurrency not perform: medium of exchange, store of value, or unit of account? It seems to me that crypto is at least as real as any Fiat money.

Make it so!

I love both Rivian and Tesla. It’s Elon I have a problem with, as should every Tesla owner, employee, and stockholder who cares about the company’s mission statement: Accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy.

They are consuming media like this that labels empathy toxic and part of an evil progressive plot to destroy America through compassion (I guess). They can still think of themselves as Christians if they just “Opposite Day” everything.

Throwing away money on outrageous mall rents when they need to be aggressively expanding service. Priorities are out of wack.

It’s far less important what it identifies it as so long as it recognizes it as an obstacle. It could be a parade of chihuahuas for all I care just so long as the car stops.

Strongly disagree. Possibly the oldest and most famous mantra in all of performance art is, “The show must go on.” To cancel the Oscars would be to accept defeat in the face of adversity.

It’s probably pointless to debate this as neither of us are privy to the actual details here. That said, if you’re buying out your lease early, it would make sense that you still need to pay the remaining lease payments plus the residual value of the car at the end of the lease.
