What…they’ll have a subway map that makes sense all of the sudden?

Maybe they’ll get one that works one of these days?

Last one from 2003 for now, and one of the best power pop albums of the 00s. These songs are catchy and goofy, sometimes didn’t age so well, but man this album rips. Exploding Hearts - Guitar Romantic (2003)

We’re gonna be there! So hoping they’ll get a win.

As I work through 00s albums (from bands who more or less started in the 00s) this one’s held up well, songs are strong but this one thrives on its vibe, like the songs were born in a room and might end up anywhere from one song to the next. Broken Social Scene - You Forgot it In People (2003)

Had a package delivered after 10 pm last night. Was nervous opening the door, but had no idea just how nervous I should be.

Love how early Yeah Yeah Yeahs rocks hard. Once saw YYYs opening for Girls vs Boys at a small college town bar in Ohio. Crowd hadn’t shown for the opener, and the band murdered all 30 of us in the room. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - s/t (EP) (2001) Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever to Tell (2003)

Mixed/not-mixed bag tonight. Shins and Postal Service have good songs but are overall just ok. Sufjan and M83 were rising to peaks. The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow The Postal Service - Give Up M83 - Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts Sufjan Stevens - Michigan All 2003

This one has been a little overlooked with time, which is a shame as it’s a joyful, weird racous little gem, punk rock spirit through queasy funhouse vibes. “somewhere in the asshole of my eye there's a muscle which relaxes when you cry” The Unicorns - Who Will Cut Our Hair When We’re Gone (2003)

A twofer tonight. The first White Stripes album I heard, and the last one I really liked. The follow-ups were fine, but Elephant was the last one I bought. De Stijl still rips hard. Easily my second Stripes album behind WBC.

Huh…I wonder white they’d go and do a thing like that.

Ha…that’s very fair. I’ll always have a soft spot for Funeral, but they lost me at Neon Bible. Kept trying after that, but man if there was ever a perfect example of a try hard…

As far as newer stuff goes this week I can’t get enough of the new Pulp record, and the latest from Idle Ray, Sharp Pins, and Smerz.
