Thanks, Kelly! Very important, and I have sections on both. It's really helpful to hear what people will be looking for.

Thanks Graham, good shout - it's not covered often enough, especially with young children. I'm including in most chapters with some examples of what it looks like

"It's didn't do me any harm". "I smacked my kids and they are fine as adults" That's good to hear - but the evidence is for longer term harm for most psycnet.apa.org/search/displ...

Yes, children are part of families, and each family has rights to live as they wish ... But this is often limited in some way either in law or common sense (car seats, etc) It seems strange that inflicting pain is somehow a fundamental right for parents 2/3

When your baby drops objects from their height chair, they’re learning about gravity. When they knock over a block tower, they’re learning cause and effect. These playful actions test their growing understandings about the world.

I see so many examples of adults spending a really long time on a tuff spot display, which is - as they see it - ‘trashed’ in minutes, and I wonder, What is the purpose of this? Surely it is more effective to provide ‘deconstructed’ resources that children have to think about constructing? 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think your point that the "setting up" can transfer too much thinking, etc from child to adult is very important and helpful

I’m not so sure. Depends on the curriculum I think.

I am exaggerating a little for sure! And taking for granted too glibly an implication that scaffolding includes content. Too much coffee first thing
