Theyre mocking the Israelis who roll out this excuse every time they deliberately hit civillians infrastructure.

Yeah, it shows how cynical the US, particularly the US right, has become that when it became clear he was a close personal associate of a proven child sex trafficker it didn't end his career in public life.

I think Russia mostly builds it's own Shaheds now.

Israel is currently bombing Iran you know? This isn't happening in a vacuum.
comment in response to post
What a half-wit. This is obviously Netenyahu telling him Iran was responsible for the assassination attempts. Presumably in his head they conspired with the Democrats against him.

9/❗️Israel is running out of Arrow interceptor missiles – WSJ Source: www.wsj.com/video/series...
comment in response to post
Yeah, they apparently never had that many to start with, which probably should have occurred to the Israeli's before they attacked a country whose military is based around long range missiles.

I'm not a fan of Carlson (who on here is?) but he did a very good job of disassembling Cruz here. US foreign policy for decades has been run by men like this who are almost completely ignorant of the places they're happy to wipe off the map.

You might be wrong about the EU in this. Germany for obvious historical reasons is particularly vulnerable to Israeli manipulation.

Theme park tokens hopefully.

I really don't see why we would get involved, all risk, no reward. The Israelis are despicable and are the aggressor, and the US views us along with the rest of Europe as parasitic. They certainly don't appreciate British assistance during the war on terror.

Ok, we were having a reasonable discussion earlier but now you're well out of line. Good night and good bye.

And it's not like Israel has no track record of doing this kind of thing.
comment in response to post
No, of course not, which is what makes it such a major security failure. A country that has openly hated them almost since it's inception set up operations in their country, and agents were obviously surveiling their top brass almost constantly to be able to pull this off in such quick order.

No, they'd have skipped Ukraine and headed straight up the Potomac River to Washington.

He's always smirking in these videos. 1500 Russians killed or seriously wounded per day for 2 years and he couldnt give a toss.

Look away for 2 seconds and Trump will eat your dinner.

What a p***k.

I think the Iranian's poor security made them look overwhelming really. Numerous major failures. Spike missiles and drone attacks from in country, large parts of the upper echelons assassinated. They flunked a test they'd been revising for for 50 years.

If I remember correctly what I read Israel did the same thing to Egypt when they were at war with them that they're doing to Iran now. Wiped out most of their air force before Egypt, who were quite powerful at the time, realised they were at war.
comment in response to post
If you look at Israel's military campaigns against other countries in the past they've always started with these sneak attacks though. Obviously if one side is carrying out a large scale co-ordinated attack and the other side doesn't know it's at war then the power balance drastically shifts.

Israel doesn't have overwhelming Superiority over Turkey though, although a decapitating first strike like we saw against Iran could be effective against virtually anyone. Turkey has about 230 F-16C/D and more importantly they've got E-7 AWACS planes which are better than anything the Israeli's have

Yeah and systems like Arrow 3 are once in a blue moon systems, not used as regularly as Iron Dome. Used at this tempo any failure rate is going to be a lot more obvious, and the interceptors are big, heavy space capable missiles meaning they carry a lot of fuel.
comment in response to post
I think Netenyahu thinks he's on some kind of Jewish crusade against Islam. He'll keep attacking Islamic countries until somehow he's stopped.
comment in response to post
It's likely because Iron Dome isnt geared up to intercept ballistic missiles. Arrow 3 does that, but the missile stockpile and number of Arrow 3 launchers is much smaller as its far more expensive. As the number dwindles then they'll have to prioritise defending some locations over others.

It's a stretch, but Turkeys relationship with Israel has nosedive in recent years. Erdogan said he believes the Israeli's will attack their homeland so he could conceivably try to get ahead of the game rather than wait for a decapitating sneak attack like the one we've seen on Iran.
comment in response to post
Largely as a result of Turkeys failure to gain access to the EU. And of course, Israel is used to riding roughshod over the middle east in recent years. They don't react well to being told 'no'.
comment in response to post
Yeah, ive just started reading the article but it strikes me that when they had better relations with Israel Turkey was a more Europe facing country with little interest in the middle east beyond when it directly affected them. Erdogan is more interested in the middle east than Europe though.
comment in response to post
The problem there of course is that all the neighbouring Islamic countries in the Levant have been reduced by wars in recent years. And Iran is neither Sunni nor Arab so the gulf states don't feel any kinship with them. In fact they've been openly hostile to each other for a long time.
comment in response to post
Yes, I agree, that's what I said. He can use that threat as a lever to force compliance from member states as well.
comment in response to post
The Reuters article is just one example. There's been a back and forth for some time and we know how Israel reacts to that. They attack without warning.

Europe still does business with Russia for oil and gas. Turkey doesn't have sanctions on Israel. Commerce does as it likes and follows the money until government actually intervene and changes the rules. Obviously it's politically difficult for NATO members to sanction Israel because of the US.
comment in response to post
I'm sorry I couldn't understand the point you were making there, the phrasing was a little off.
comment in response to post
No, there's been friction between them recently if you Google it. The Israeli's are quite hostile to them and Erdogan having more Islamist leanings than previous Turkish leaders obviously doesn't like Netenyahu. The Turkish foreign ministry compared Netenyahu to Hitler recently for instance.
comment in response to post
Yeah, we all decided to help the US to demonstrate loyalty. Trump's made it clear he doesn't feel the same way about a lot of members, particularly smaller ones who can't do a lot for the US (I think he specifically mentioned Estonia).
comment in response to post
Well that threat could easily be the lever that would stop anyone helping Turkey. At present the US isn't a committed member anyway so staying in costs them little. They've stopped joint exercises with European members for instance.
comment in response to post
Yes, very much so. There's a view that article 5 is a tripwire. It's not, it's simply an invitation to a discussion. If the US forcefully says no then other members would be afraid of US pushback, and I doubt anyone will go to bat for Erdogan against US will.
comment in response to post
Basically from Turkey's perspective they will logically expect to be attacked by Israel at some point now, because Israel is attacking everyone who owns a Quran. They know that NATO won't likely intervene on their behalf. That could encourage them to act now rather than wait to be hit next.
comment in response to post
*if not I'd. Typo.
comment in response to post
I doubt war in Iran will cause a regime change in Turkey. In reality I'd Israel attacked Turkey Article 5 is just a call to discuss action, which the US would block against Israel. The rest would likely have to acquiesce. The US would likely force Turkey out of NATO to accommodate Israel.
comment in response to post
Yeah, the last deal agreed to get tariffs lifted, which was craven by Starmer, doesn't seem to have been implemented. I think Trump just enjoys making other countries dance to his tune for the entertainment of his support base.
comment in response to post
If I'm Erdogan I'm watching what Israel is doing to Iran and thinking Turkey is next on Israel's list. The Israelis have been making noises about Turkey for a while now.
comment in response to post
I think it'll probably manifest as Turkey not allowing the US to use Turkey as a base for its air strikes. That said Turkey must be watching what Israel are doing to Iran, fully aware they're next on the list. That might push something more significant.
comment in response to post
I think what's actually happened is they've clipped off a few hundred square kilometres off the Syrian border. Theyre also regularly carrying out airstrikes with no real objective beyond causing harm.
comment in response to post
I think if Britain gets involved in this it's rank stupidity. The only reason we've ever been alligned with Israel is to keep the US on side, but loyalty is a one way street with the US nowadays so what's the point any more. All risk, no reward.
comment in response to post
That's idiotic. Israel routinely targets civilians and journalists. I'm not a fan of Iran at all, but Israel is far worse. Israel is an apartheid state that operates on a racial supremist mindset. And Iranians aren't Arabs by the way, they're Persian. Both are semites, like Hebrews.
