New Zealand is lucky - you only have 3 year terms and Proportional Representation. In the UK we're stuck with the wretched first past the post and 4/5 term parliaments

One of the interesting things during Corbyn's leadership was that Labour didn't persue New Labour style triangulation, they argued against things from first principles. Very interesting and unusual for one of the two major parties

If the "only the LibDems can beat Reform" narrative takes off in certain parts of the UK, it might be things very *interesting*

This is the problem when you get someone who's spent a large part of their adult career outside of party politics, where having a good argument generally wins your case.

The only way is for the LibDems to have a 15-20 year project of winning a outright majority under FPTP or at least becoming the largest party in a hung parliament

Absolutely. There is an awfully long way to go to the next GE but Labour seriously need to boot their comms team up the backside; Alistair Campbell, for all his faults, would not be allowing this - it's a like with successful football managers, you only realise how good they were when they leave

If Scotland were to re-join and England/r-UK stays out of the EU, there would surely have to be a hard border?

Every succeeding generation gets slammed in the UK - we live in a country of ridiculous nostalgia for the past that never was viewed through rose-tinted spectacles which never worked

Forgive the non-American naivety but how does that happen in practical terms.
